happyone65: i have just found out that it is nz customs holding up my dvd,not enough paper work has been sent,i have contacted amazon uk and they only send a invoice with the parcel to you shop uk.,so what other paper work is needed, can some body tell me please,nz post don't seem to know what there doing.

Kind of strange that they would hold up one DVD for this.  In the past when I ordered DVDs from Amazon all that came with it was the  packing slip with the price and  title on it.

What do they want a detailed customs declaration or something??   It sounds a bit over the top to me.

Regards,

Old3eyes

Login to amazon, get the PDF, send it to Customs highlighting the date of order if before the change set in?

Or, the GST amount being added if after it?

Youshop probably expecting to get it from you since it got to them after the change. But doesn't spin like that. Customs will just want to make sure that IRD got a cut if it has been diverted (shouldn't have been)

I asked for a check up on my overdue package (18 Jan) today, considering that 1 of 2 has been delivered & they admitted that they had lost the other one then suddenly it landed in NZ & 1 minute later went to Customs. Like that.

They responded quoting IMC, whoever that is:

"We have received confirmation from IMC that this parcel is with Customs

Notice number : S00229289 - S00229279

Please contact Ecommerce to get your parcel cleared.

If you have any questions, please reply to this email."

Hey, sh*t for brains, do you think I might have a question? Like who is Ecommerce? Where are they? How do I get hold of them? Why is another entity now involved? Do I contact them or will you?

I was not quite so bolshie in my reply to NZ Post, presenting polite enquiry as to this mysterious Ecommerce thing. Still waiting...

NZ Post - committing business suicide.

IMC - International Mail Centre (airport auckland for sorting and MPI/Customs checks)

Quick googly suggests ecommerce are the customs side of post?

"Email ecommerce enquiries to nominate us to act as your broker, we will contact you back with a full breakdown of all fees and charges including the duty and GST payable."

That said, they also mention the ecommerce counter for customs lol

The saga continues... NZ Post E-commerce told me to apply to Customs for a Customs Client Code - this comes 8 weeks after the product shipped. So I apply to Customs for this code which is directed pretty much at the food importing industry. I'm bringing in a one-off camera kit that doesn't even taste nice.

Fill the form out, email it in. Returned - you didn't include ID. That's because they didn't ask for it. Resent with ID. Yes, you're approved, here's your number.

I sent the Client Code that NZ Customs generated for me through to NZ Post. Guess what they do with it? Yeah, they send it to NZ Customs. FFS. It's like chasing ghosts through mist & fog.

Long time no post, but Youshop (UK) has annoyed me recently by refusing to ship a warranty replacement Nest Thermostat from the UK. The USA thermostats work differently, so it had to be a UK one.

Due to it containing a (tiny 380mAh) Li-ion battery, it was declared "prohibited goods", and I had to get it forwarded to another mail forwarding service, who is fine shipping it under the IATA regulations. I sent Youshop a range of documents which they requested (MSDS, original invoice, March 2020 IATA Lithium regulations) which clearly show it *is* legal and safe for Youshop to ship the package under IATA section 967 section 2(F) exemptions for a single, low capacity battery contained in the device, but no dice from Youshop. Sigh.

Further annoying is the fact the Youshop USA ships similar lithium batteries contained in equipment fine, but apparently the UK version "doesn't have an agreement with our carrier". Despite this, I presume they do ship cell phones from the UK all the time, which have larger batteries in them.

Even more annoying, Youshop UK shipped the original thermostat without issue in November 2019, so what changed? The final annoyance was having to pay GST on the warranty replacement (anyone know if I can claim that back from IRD/customs?).

Edit: apparently I can get the GST back: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=73&topicid=270162&page_no=1#2471548

Has anyone used YouShop during COVID-19 with the dramatically reduced options for getting a parcel from the USA to New Zealand and the extra charges?

Yes, I have. It was fine, more costly for sure. I'd expect there is no need for items to be restricted to 'essential only' any more though.

Shipito is an excellent, more expensive, alternative service, but a lot faster.

How long did it take for you to get a notification that your package arrived?

FedEx tracking shows that my package was delivered to the warehouse late afternoon on Thursday (US time), yet I still haven't gotten anything.

Slow.

About 6 days for Youshop UK from arrival at their warehouse to notice, then a further 5 days once I'd paid to have package forwarded before it was actually shipped. That was the prohibited item above, which may have delayed things a bit.

Forward2me was much faster once the package was with them. I guess you're getting what you're paying for, as they were also more expensive.

Just got notified that my parccel is  in the warehouse this morning.
Does $257 sound about average? All I'm getting is a backpack and 4 small 85mm skateboard wheels. Sounds awfully pricey to me.

Seems excessive to me. I guess volumetric weight is being applied.
