Just got notified that my parccel is  in the warehouse this morning.
Does $257 sound about average? All I'm getting is a backpack and 4 small 85mm skateboard wheels. Sounds awfully pricey to me.

Shipping companies are reaming it these days (note, I know the actual end couriers work hard for little reward).

Yeah it must be the backpack. Apparently it weighs 9kg using NZ Post's calculation of (Volumetric weight (kg) = [length (cm) × breadth (cm) × height (cm)]/5,000).

I'll take it as a lesson learnt and cough up the shipping fee and know in the future to not purchase bulky items like a backpack!

You should see the volumetric postage cost of a fully inflated hot air balloon....

Apparently my 1kg true weight package is "9kg" (volumetric weight). So I'm paying $72+GST more than I should've?

At least weigh my parcel correctly so I don't have to pay $250 in freight for a backpack...

Note for all: youshop currently has a temporary surcharge of NZ$8 per kg, due to the increased cost of international freight. This is in addition to the standard base fees ($9 economy / $12.50 standard) and the standard weight based cost ($3.50 / $4.75).

I've had good luck using fish is fast recently - I am trying stackry next - they both appear to be loads cheaper, easier to use and faster than youshop. Does anybody have other forwarding services they can recommend?

I can recommend Mailboxde.com if you want to get anything out of Germany. They always measure/price stuff within a hour of the package being delivered and package is always sent out within 24 hrs of payment.   

Also, has anybody got a decent freight service out of the UK?

Gah, that will be why I am getting completely reamed on a few packages I had sent there last week. Still deciding what to do, although not many options other than pay the $240 eek. One of the items is $50 for something worth $30. I can get it sent back for $25 and get the $30 refunded to gain $5 (but avoid paying $50 to send it). This will certainly be the last time I use youshop for a while...

$121 NZD shipping for a 38 x 32 x 24cm box (2kg weight, 5.84kg volumetric). This will be the last time I use YouShop that's for sure.
