I've had good luck using fish is fast recently - I am trying stackry next - they both appear to be loads cheaper, easier to use and faster than youshop. Does anybody have other forwarding services they can recommend?

Fish is fast used to be pretty good until I lost an item and they refuse to file a claim with usps for 3 months. Then I had to file a dispute with PayPal in order to at least get my postage back. They suspended my account instead.

Well my experience with MyUS.com has been pretty crap. No response to support request and the 'Live Chat' is perpetually on unavailable.

The also hide the fact that they now collect GST, it's not detailed in the pricing calculator when NZ is selected.

Would not recommend.

Imported a HP Omen 27i from the US in July weighing 10.5kg.
FedEx economy very reasonable prices from Planet Express.
PM me for a referral code if you want. You can pay a monthly charge for a tax free mailbox location.

I'm wanting to ship an item from USA, but the cost is pretty close to $1000nz ,So just wanted to be sure about how the actual "total amount" is calculated by customs before you reach the magic "$1000nz" needed for a client code.
1. Price of item
2. Shipping cost ( which one, the local and/or the cost getting it here to NZ or both)
3.GST
So do they add all these details together to get to the $1000nz?

Wow. Expensive. Given the item's likely size and/ or weight, have you looked into actually shipping it, as opposed to air freight?

On to your question - yes, they add up every last skerrick of anything they can possibly find, then add more tax and duty on top of it, then pat you on the backside and say "thanks, Chump".

Can anyone post a link to where I can read up on what exactly the details are, I've looked here https://www.customs.govt.nz/personal/send-and-receive-items/receive-items-from-overseas/
But just don't see the details I'm looking for.

Thanks

Anyone had anything sent to the UK youshop address recently? What turn around from the item being delivered and it being available to get sent here? I have had to use that because a UK ebay seller had a power supply I need to get my esas box working again and I have a need for storage!

Received via Email:

We’re getting in touch to let you know about some changes we are having to make to our YouShop services, due to the continued impact of COVID-19 on airlines globally.

As earlier advised, many flights were suspended or stopped altogether, resulting in reduced cargo capacity. This has meant that the airlines we work with to deliver for you increased their airfreight charges and we had to introduce a surcharge.

Unfortunately, we don’t expect the situation to return to normal for some time and therefore we have had to review our services.

The following changes to our YouShop services will apply from 1 November 2020:

•The current COVID-19 surcharge of NZD$2.00 per 500g will be removed

•Freight on USA and UK standard shipping will increase to NZD$7.50 per 500g

•To help offset this increase in freight charges, we are reducing the YouShop handling fee to NZD$10.00 per parcel

•We will be discontinuing our YouShop USA economy service

•The delivery target for standard shipping from the USA and UK will be 8 – 12 days from payment date

NZD$ per parcelhandling fee Was 12.50 and is now $10

NZD$ per 500g was $4.75 now $7.50

If you’ve got parcels in the USA waiting to be sent, ensure you pay for shipping by 11.59pm 31st October 2020 to make the most of the current YouShop USA economy service.

Thanks for your understanding.

I can sort of understand why youshop are raising their prices.

I often want to ship much heavier and bulkier items back but Youshop this is not the right solution.

Anybody tried this organization before.

https://www.kiwishipping.co.nz/WhyUseUs

They do freight consolidations so maybe a GZ people get together and aggregate their packages and if they don't care about speed use a much cheaper ocean freight option.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Has anyone used Youshop recently? Are they delivering reliably? I'm not bothered if it takes a month, looking to get a Kindle as a gift and they won't ship the model I'm looking at to NZ.

Nope. Too pricey, and refused to ship a compliant parcel with a lithium battery from the UK.

I've used forward2me from the UK, not cheap, but really helpful service, and just used Stackry from the USA - a few dollars cheaper than Youshop, and very good service too i.e. not waiting for days between each step of arrival of parcel at the warehouse, paying and then shipping out.

Yep!

Here are a couple of Youshop tracking links for ya. Both were on the more expensive shipping option, although they did take about a week to go through the warehouse before I was able to pay for shipping.

Thanks guys. It's pretty expensive right now, I might just buy locally even though it costs a bit more.

In a statement which will warm the cockles of some local retailers, between postage costs (the bulk) and overseas GST (a smaller fraction), the impetus to buy overseas is less than previously.

Two important points though:

1) Where local retailers don't carry the item, absolutely overseas shopping is the only option

2) I suspect many local retailers are now ensuring they aren't too out of step with overseas item price+shipping+15% - which is an effect of global competition. Often times this equation is surprisingly close, which leads to me believe it's no accident.

I purchased a second-hand watch (the model I purchased in the late 70's from paper run earnings) from a private seller on UK ebay and took a punt on youshop.

First time I have used youshop in several years, so didn't really know what to expect for pricing.

On a purchase cost of $176, youshop charged $47, being $22 postage and $25 gst.

This compares with an estimated $80 had I posted via ebay.

Still expensive though.
