you could have flashing lights or what every and have the whole lane painted, but people will still get tickets

As I said, you are missing the point. Let's agree to disagree.

Im not missing any point, you're blaming AT for people CHOOSING to drive in a buslane because even though it meets NZTA design rules, AT have said it isnt the best.

Just like here in our Street.

The CCC rearranged the parking deckchairs, leaving one side of the Street restricted in the morning drop-off and afternoon pickup,

and the other side mostly normal (Not restricted).

So where has everyone parked? The restricted side of course!

What do you suggest AT do about Kyber Pass while maintaining the functionality of the bus lanes?

Just because a road is confusing and not able to be made less confusing doesn't make it revenue gathering.

Like most other road issues it comes down to the rules should only apply to bad (other) drivers, not good (me) drivers.

That assumes it's impossible to make it less confusing, which I seriously doubt.

I guess the answer is they use some smart technology to determine when a case is intentional vs accidental, they could increase the thresholds for what generates a ticket, perhaps a warning for the first time.

But of course, there is more money in inaction.

You're claiming a conspiracy by AT to make money by maintaining a confusing layout but have no alternative and your "solution" is "smart technology" to determine intent.

Righto.

neb: If you think that's bad, take a look at this Mondrian the Christchurch council has created:

Anyone want to guess what you're supposed to do when you run into that?

Apparently it's an art installation with the title "Cultural learnings of Mondrian for make benefit glorious towies and panelbeaters of Christchurch".

Getting a jury summons inviting me to give up a week of income for which the reply envelope is DX Mail.  Not NZ Post, which you can drop off at a pre-set location known to Google or just generally known anyway, but a mail service where you need to download a PDF that you have to scroll through to find out if there's anywhere in your suburb where you can actually post the damn thing.

I guess it skews the jury roster towards people who are public-minded, literate, intelligent, tech-savvy and conscientious. No bad thing - but not necessarily a ‘jury of peers’ for many crims.

I don't know the data for NZ but for the US it skews the jury towards people not able to get out of jury duty, the unemployed, and retirees.  This is from someone who worked in the justice system there, from memory his words were actually "not smart enough to get out of jury duty" implying that it selects for the sort of people who believe Fox News.  Caveat about it being the US added because we, and by extension things like ant colonies and the plants in the garden hedge, are less dysfunctional than they are.

Nice try.

I am not paid millions a year to provide expertise on this matter, but I have made suggestions that would be a fairer outcome for those situations where it's warranted.

No shortage of expertise available in coming up with ways to create 'compliance' though right?

There are ways to solve this if the will exists, of course, that would affect revenue clearly not their top priority.

you could have flashing lights or what every and have the whole lane painted, but people will still get tickets

But it won’t be the drivers fault. It’ll be revenue gathering. It’ll have nothing to do with drivers being incompetent or too important to follow the rules.

Todays annoyance is people arguing about the validity of what annoys me.

I'm sorry, is this the 25-message argument or the full thread one?  And have you paid?  I'm not going to argue in my spare time.
