Tough reading at times.

"they were doing this process because they were doing this process because they were seriously considering putting him in proper prison for six months."

"he waited for six hours until his court appearance and at one point told her even had to ask for a water."

"I just took my place to all the nice places."

Those appear to be direct quotes from the video. Are they accurate? Quoted verbiage often looks bad on paper.

"An earlier draft of the traffic light system included different restrictions based on three levels of risk, with red similar to level 2.5, amber similar to level 2, and green similar to level 1.

Red would apply when there is an outbreak, with restrictions on businesses such as hospitality services but with greater freedoms for the fully vaccinated.

Orange would apply in a limited outbreak" - Herald

Orange? Orange is not an option based on the first paragraph....

There isn’t a “Level 2.5” on the official MoH website either. Orange may be when Red restrictions are required for a Yellow Fever outbreak?

Excuse me for quoting an entire article here, but it's necessary to make my point.

An earthquake has hit the lower North Island.

The preliminary magnitude was 5.4. Thequake struck about 11am on Friday, measuring 5.4, centred in Taumarunui.

This story didn't write itself.

It takes real humans, tough phone calls, uncomfortable doorknocks, bushy stakeouts, complex data sets, fancy cameras, tech experts, furious typing and a whole lot more to make each little nugget of Stuff news.

Headline, "NZ's largest life insurer faces $700,000 fine for misleading customers" leads to an article titled "Perpetual Guardian mandates vaccination for all office workers and visitors" with no mention of any sort of fine.

There is an article from July about AIA facing a potential $700k fine, however.

That sort of c**p happens often where the headline doesn't match the story, yet they still want you to subscribe to get all this great journalism. I expect better for my money and I somehow suspect things won't improve if I opened my wallet.

From the Herald today:

Celebrity Treasure Island, ZM host Bree Tomasel's private fears: 'I may never have a baby'

Education certainly isn't what it once was. They used to teach us what words such as "private" meant!

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

For bonus points, "dropped". When, e.g. Microsoft "drops support" for something, it means that it's no longer supported. Stuff is using it to mean the exact opposite in this case.

(Yes, I realise that this is common these days, and that it's not just Stuff).
