Two wrongs don't make a right, though.
Uncertainty for local news.
NZME buys Gisborne Herald, staff waiting to hear if they'll keep their jobs

On Tuesday, staff were told that NZME - an NZX listed company that owned the NZ Herald, Newstalk ZB and a range of other print, digital and radio brands - had bought the newspaper and its website.

Its purchase of The Gisborne Herald came a week after NZME bought Bay of Plenty media company Sun Media, which owned the Sun Live website and three community newspapers.

Personally I get my left-wing news from NZME (NZ Herald)/Stuff and right-wing news from The Platform.
While Sean Plunket on the Platform is super "anti-woke" and this scares off left-wing guests, when he gets them on, he pushes them hard. I guess similar to what happens to right-wing politicians on the likes of TVNZ with some interviewers..... People need to not be afraid of being pushed by those who oppose their ideas and turn up on the shows and stand by their principles....
I really long for the days of a neutral media but I can't see how that will ever return, the left keep going more into the woke and this then creates a big space for the anti-woke on the right each with their own set of media....

I don't think Mike Hosking on ZB is particularly left-wing, is he?
I guess if I did choose to listen to any right-wing platform - out of The Platform or "Reality Check" "Radio" (lol) - I would choose the former as more palatable than the latter.

It maybe adds more than that sometimes. I recall the host referring to the mosque shooter as an " 'alleged' terrorist " and that was after the conviction and sentencing.
Edit: I regret raising it in a way but it really does have that aspect from time to time.
I asked someone about that and they have to "allege" things while they still may appeal it as apparently that makes all the difference.

https://archive.ph/5dvXb >> the Herald has a piece this morning on ways TV3 could look at saving jobs. There would still be losses but the staff are putting a few proposals forward.
A campaign TVNZ staff are running re their job cuts.
SepticSceptic: I reckon that presenters can be replaced by an AI bot.
After all, they're just reading of a teleprompter . How hard can that be ?
Do away with their inflated salaries and direct funds to the investigative journalists.
But, what about the vibe between presenters?
Easy, program it in.
First we'll get AI to write the stories, then we get AI to present them. Then we swap the human audience for other AIs, and finally, we replace all the fake stories written by AIs with real stories about AIs written by AIs, and the circle is complete. Profit!

Journeyman:
I'm surprised as I had thought both Fair Go and Sunday did well enough in the ratings that they earned their place. Sunday even has sponsorship. But hey, it'll save the money needed to afford more great shows like last night's My Massive C***.
Turns out that actually those shows are profitable. So why is TVNZ canning them? Because at some point they won't be profitable 🙄
Also, those shows are "broadcast" shows and TVNZ has a "digital first strategy", and so they need to divest in broadcast to focus on digital. That's weird. I didn't know tv shows could be broadcast only and not on a digital platform a well 🤷♂️

Common sense is not as common as you think.
