Handsomedan:

I wrote a lengthy reply to a post on GZ and included a bunch or links and them my browser went haywire and it was lost to the ether.

I am not rewriting that and re-finding the links.

Annoying. I was trying to be helpful.

Tends to happen to me on mobile. The Post Reply button hangs for a few seconds, then the network connection times out. Only happens on One NZ mobile for me.

While taking problematic car out of my car garage this morning, stood on a rake in the corner of garage next to garage door on the dark side, and smack into my head! Monday!

While we are on the subject of problematic cars...my son's car that has had endless amounts of work done on it, has now decided to spit coolant everywhere (mostly out driveway) and become undriveable.

So...it's either a water pump ($$$$) or hoses ($$) or a gasket of some sort ($$$$).

It's not the radiator, thankfully, as that's miles away from where the coolant is being ejected.

Bought the car 2 years ago for $5500 - current tally on cost of repairs - approx $6k. This job likely to be anything from $1-3k depending on complexity.

It's a lovely car on the rare occasions it's not broken.

Not a Japanese brand I'm guessing.

A couple of years ago I started using a (superior) third-party client for an online service. Over the past few months the service provider has been making changes to the protocol, seemingly for the express purpose of breaking the third-party client. The third-party dev would push out an update pretty quickly, then it would break again a few weeks later. A couple of days ago it broke cataclysmically and the developer said it's likely the end of the line.

The thing that annoys me is that I opened it back up with the official client, and it seems that they've made absolutely zero attempt at fixing any of the issues that were driving people like me to the third-party client in the first place. It still responds to clicks slowly and freezes occasionally (three times in two days), and instead of making the thing better, they've just "punished" people who dared to try to make it usable.

I ordered an item via Trademe, and Aramex is the local courier. Since I wasn't at home it couldn't be delivered, so back to the depot it goes, and a re-delivery requires a calling card number which doesn't exist to start with.

I just saw on a Samsung webpage for a Galaxy tablet that it has 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM...  Will be staying away from a tablet that won't let me write any data to it! 🤦‍♂️

When we went on holiday a month ago did a last minute house check and decided to tuck a few valuables plus the Apple TV box somewhere not visible to a potential thief.

I now have an Apple Remote but no Tv box. Have searched everywhere possible including under sofas, can’t find it and can’t remember where I hid it. Brain would have been busy with a zillion other things at the time multitasking so it didn’t register. Infuriating.

You can bet it will turn up in plain sight the moment I buy a replacement.

No one needs more than 2GB of writeable memory!

It didn't seem that long ago Bill Gates reputedly told us "640k ought to be enough for anybody".

Have you considered the Apple TV box might actually have been stolen ? 😊

What about your other valuables you tucked away ?

All tongue in cheek !

I was wondering whether "Find My Apple TV" is a thing, and Copilot popped up and cheerily said that you can find a lost Apple TV via the "Remote" app.

Unfortunately the source article says no such thing (it's talking about finding a lost remote). Maybe worth a check anyway, but don't hold your breath.

That my relatively new Dell laptop at work will not come back from hibernate 80% of the time. If I just close the lid the chances are next morning I push the power button, it lits up, but nothing happens, forcing me to do a forced power down (push the button for a few seconds) and then start it again.

My Dell work laptop does exactly the same thing. Its bloody annoying. I'll be docked at my desk with the lid open so I can use the webcam for Teams calls. I'll close the lid, undock and walk 20sec to a meeting room and it won't come back on without a hard restart.
