Burglarised is a legit word in NZ - burglarized is not. If you want to use that word, that's how to do it - that's all I was saying.

Of course, burgled is a better word.

At least the reporter knew the difference between robbed and burgled... That's a first.

A standard clause in works specifications for housing in the UK includes

"Ladders should not be left on site in such a way as to assist persons in effecting burglarious entry to the property. "

I always liked that line.

Made me wonder whether it is even a real word > googled > it is, of course.

NZH today:

“Revealed: Prince Philip’s Will in secret royal safe.
It has been confirmed that the Duke of Edinburgh's Will is stored in a royal safe.”

Yeah, well , duh - what’s so revealing? You wouldn’t leave lying around for the downstairs to get their peepers onto it.

Might be more interesting if it was secreted in a Commoner’s safe.

Would be even more exciting if they revealed that Harry was in a secret safe, rather than Will.

There are 144 new cases of Covid-19 in the Delta community outbreak and a person in their 80s has died in Aucland’s North Shore Hospital.

"A regional breakdown (see table below) also reveals the nation's biggest data hog: Auckland."

No? Really? The city that has the largest population by a country mile used the most broadband?

Wow. I'd never have guessed. Thank heavens we have these geniuses to tell us.

NZH headline today: “Inconsistent' price estimates: Auckland Council explains why CVs have been delayed.

Delays in the release of new Auckland Council valuations are because data teams generated inconsistent price estimates across the city.”

This is incorrect - the figures that councils produce are not prices - they are estimated values. A price is the amount of money at which something is offered for sale. That is not the case with council CVs.

This sort of reporting doesn’t help with clarifying peoples’ understanding of the reason for, and the role of, council CVs.

And there's an XKCD for that:

"Full House star, Bob Saget, has passed away aged 65"

No issue with the headline itself, but on multiple occasions he is referred to as Tanner. Apparently this news is also 20 years late being reported, with upcoming shows in 2002.

"TMZ reports that Saget was found in his hotel room by hotel staff who notified the Shreiff's Department and fire deparment. Tanner was pronounced dead at the scene. ... Tanner was looking forward to upcoming shows in 2002"
