I was annoyed to read today that the perfectly innocuous naked skier ad has attracted far more complaints than any other. How pathetic is that? Does Destiny church think a naked skier (who is clearly enjoying himself) will turn all their kiddies into homosexuals? And what does it matter if it does? God loves all his children, doesn't he?

Why is no-one complaining about those truly awful 'island' stupidities, virgin island, honeymoon island, lord of the flies island, whatever island. That is the true definition of obscenity!

That you can only buy RUC in 1000km units. When RUC was brought in, our EV was nowhere near a multiple of 1000, so now the label will always be a random number.

you could have put it to the next multiple when you first had to get it but you can also do this:

"When re-buying RUC labels, you can change the start kms to a 'better' number by changing the 'new starting distance' entry field. You'll get charged correctly based on the end distance of the last label and the end distance of the new label."

I know this sort of thing has been mentioned before, but a video I just saw was so egregious. Started with "before we begin, make sure you like and subscribe". So I haven't even seen the content yet, but you already want me to say I liked it? And then, every 30 seconds, a flashing "Subscribe" thing in the corner of the video. Over the video's total runtime there must have been 38 requests to subscribe.

We brought the vehicle second hand after RUC had been announced, but I was unaware of your second point - thanks.

While we're having a Youtube whinge.  I'm annoyed at having to sit through ads at the start of a video.  I'm all for ensuring (quality) content providers get paid, but let me watch it for two or three minutes first to see if I find it sufficiently interesting/funny/entertaining and if I can tolerate the whiny or AI voice so I've got a chance to retreat before you start bombarding me with advertising.

Auto-correct is why I have crust issues.

I have stopped watching YouTube videos altogether. Got sick of all the fakes claiming to have stories on interesting subjects and then just playing some monotonous teaser for a half-hour. I just don't have the patience for that crap.

These days (this morning excepted!) I watch very little that isn't one of my "trusted" subscribed channels. I actually use a third-party organiser that shows your subscriptions and filters out the rest of the rubbish.

Several years ago after being frustrated by YouTube ads  both my kids talked me into getting Premium. I haven’t looked back but having said that I am getting annoyed by so many AI voiceovers. It drives me nuts as I have mentioned before.

I basically watch subscriptions too but there is a lot of WW2 documentaries appearing. One that I  found fascinating was the building of Spitfires in lots of small garages and warehouses. The theory was that the girls/ladies could assemble parts of the plane and then they would be joined at a later date. The Germans on the other hand made their planes in huge factories which the Allies bombed. Hearing from what the ladies did and how they kept what they did secret even from their families was really interesting.

I find myself watching more and more on Tubi these days to be honest. Best doco so far has been “Why we fight” an American reel on the lead up to WW2. Spooky to think we are seeing the same thing happening now.

Went to the Manawatu Home Show today.

Parking around the Pascal Street Stadium is a PITA with big crowds

What really P'd me off was the exhibitors who got there early and parked their trade labelled vehicles in carparks, denying the crowds to access those carparks for the whole day. One was so egregious that they parked a trailer with their signs on strapped to the mesh in a car park.

There is a carpark reserved for exhibitors, they chose not to use it and think their "marketing" opportunity was important.

Well one of them whom I was going to engage in quote for a tiny home lost my business entirely.

There were at least 12 carparks used for "free advertising" by exhibitors....W anchors.

Was that your first time? 🤣

Hunting for parking at events there is pretty standard.  If it weren't the trade vehicles it'd be another's ma/pop.

Chelwood Street is usually the easiest.  I'd normally drive down Pascal Street keeping any eye out for any departing cars then if I've not found one head for Chelwood.  The gaps formed by driveways and side streets make it super easy to park in.

It was the trailer for a realestate agent that P'd me off the most.

Is the can, as currently used for oil paint, state of the art in paint storage technology?

It's amazing that we can put a man on the moon[1] but we can't store oil paint in a container long enough for all of it to be used.

On what was possibly the coldest night we've had this year, our heatpump died late on Sunday afternoon.

Quick trip to Bunnings to get an emergency heater, that will at least stop the windows icing up and then this morning spent calling around all the local heatpump specialists - only to find that the earliest anyone can come is tomorrow.

Annoying and Frustrating.
