insane: Today's NZ Herald top story, no kidding!

"Health officials are set to release the latest information on the Covid-19 outbreak, including how many new cases there are at the border."

Link is to Stuff, but NZ Herald does this every day. Just tell us when the numbers are out, and even then, just bury it in New Zealand section, because it's not breaking news.

Herald headline today: “Hankook showcases it's airless tyre”

Poor.

Herald headline today: “Queen strips Prince Andrew of royal titles”.

However the story says: "With the Queen's approval and agreement, the Duke of York's military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen.”

I would have thought that being stripped of royal titles would mean the loss of “Prince” and “Duke of York” but it seems that’s not the case - so yet again the Herald goes for a sensationalist but wrong and misleading headline.

^ Ah, apology - I stand corrected on that - the Herald did not report that bit.

freitasm:

He did lose the HRH usage though. Prince Andrew loses military titles and use of HRH - BBC News

There is an NZ Army regiment that he is/was the commander in chief of - they have the "Prince Andrew Banner" and are known as the "Duke of York's own". Be very interesting to see what happens to them now!

Trolled by the title - Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves Lake House reunion. A sequel! Um no, it's just a review of the movie on Netflix. Arrgh!

2.5 stars out of five lol can't agree with that either. I did learn there's a Korean original so that's something.

Today's is from the BBC.

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-60069066

Not the headline or article itself, but the map of cables. An article about the cable serving Tonga has an image that not only isn't centred on Tonga, but actually has Tonga cropped out.

Stuff this week

He turned up to a job interview with a black eye - now they're married

Married to whom? The job? His black eye? The person who beat him up?

NZ Herald: "Gun law changes recommended after mosque attacks kick in today"

Yes, I know "kick" is correctly used in relation to "changes" but at quick glance it does sound as new an attack is about to happen today. The whole thing is just badly worded.

It looks like it's going to rain in Auckland in 28 years time.

That NIWA supercomputer must be working wonders.
