Hmmm....Geonet and QuakeLive still have it at 7.53 - Where did you see 7.8?
USGS have always been quicker with more accurate mag for all of our major quakes I've seen.
(I feed the Quake Catcher Network which has been bounced around several US Universities depending on funding - now at University of Southern California)
Even the QCN had a reasonably accurate mag / location within about 2 minutes - years before GEONET.
