People who come to work when sick with colds and flu. Stay at home thats why you have sick leave and if you have run out use annual leave, I do NOT want your germs!

Yep. I used to send staff with colds and flu home. If they had no sick leave left I would pay them anyway. I figured it was cost effective as it would cut down time with less staff getting ill.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Censorship annoys me but I can live with it if it is applied with a degree of common sense. The other day, however, I ran into something on a technical web site so over the top that I am still shaking my head over it. I used the American term 'screwed up' as in to make a mess of. Some seriously anal moron actually x'ed that out. Any flower that easily offended must have serious sexual issues of their own ('screw up' has nothing to do with sex, by the way, but even if it did, so what?). Anyway, this sterling example of extreme squeamishness is a very small thing that really, really annoyed me.

I had something similar; I was given a warning that some content from the 1930s contained "offensive language" because it contained the word "cock" (as in the animal).

Dirty minds look for dirty interpretations. It is, to use a suitable phrase, seriously screwed up.

Isn't that why Americans have roaches not cockroaches- always wondered how they introduced Joe ****er.

Insurance builders, flooring companies, crap subbies and insurance in general.

Had a floating floor laid, has to be ripped up because crap subbies. They were 3 hours late and I can get my thumbnail in some of the joins. Flooring company didn't even reply. Insurance assessor said it was one of the worst jobs he's ever seen.

Had the insurance builder here about 7 weeks ago. He measured things. His subbie came today to install the 6 custom made doors. 3 were too narrow because insurance builder measured 3 and "assumed the others would be the same".

Plumbers came to put vanity in. Basin is cracked. They spent 3 hours here a week ago and all they did was put the stone top on a vanity. It's not like it was flat-packed either. They didn't even put the handles on or fix it to the wall... They'll do that when they come back. One day.

10 weeks now since the burst flexi hose, and the only thing finished is my patience.

Garages that do not bother to maintain their tyre pressure equipment. Lost track of the number of split hoses, damaged nozzles, malfunctioning gauges etc I have encountered recently.

Sensible. We get very little sick leave in NZ so of course people turn up when they ought not to. Counter-productive.

If you were listing inventions I guess you'd end up with an almost blank line when you got to Thomas Crapper and the ballcock.

Menu boards that remove the 0 from 50 cents; ie, Soup $10.5

How much time/chalk/whiteboard marker has it really saved dropping that extra 0 from the end; $10.50 really isn't that much harder to type than $10.5

But $10.5 is no less correct than $10.50 (or $10.50000); they're decimals so any trailing zeros are irrelevant. I've often wondered why so many places still pad them out to two decimal places when we no longer have coins of that resolution.

Don't they also save ink by omitting the $ sign - ie:

  • deconstructed vegemite and lettuce sandwich  - 10.5

Aioli.

If I want garlic mayonnaise I will ask for it (which won't ever happen as I detest it). Why must it be on everything these days as if it was a new invention?

Plus one on this....

Electricians who try to wire stuff they are not trained in.... Sliding door installers who are so crap they cannot prevent water ingress ... The people who built our front door and the latch is so crappy it falls out on occasion ... And the idiot who installed oyr cavity sliders which warp and jam on cold days.... This is just the start...... Thanks

Reminds me of a firm of builders in the UK called Patel's.

Their van had "you've tried the cowboys, now try the Indians!" written on the side.

Today's annoyance: Songs not available from iTunes. No, I will not pay $30 for your CD when I only want one song from it.
