Kyanar: According to Woolworths Australia, they've opted to stop selling games. Which is inevitably bad, as it gives Gamestop a frighteningly large monopoly. Let's hope The Warehouse or someone steps up their game. (Ha. Ha.)

Interesting - I can only assume games are used as a loss-leader to get people into the store.
But as orgainsing games / consoles / accessories takes a lot of effort, they'll be looking to remove staff numbers involved with this area of the business. I wonder how much the market has actually shrunk since people have began buying their games on-line through their consoles?

stevenz: JB HiFi sell games, and are generally the cheapest option.

There is no JB HiFi in CHC

They do online ordering & free shipping.

Sometimes it's about impulse purchase... if ordering online, I'd have done through MightyApe most the time. And no Trade Me... some of the sellers and people on Trade Me are hard to deal with and rather not use it unless totally a must when all else are exhausted with options.

Hopefully the game sale doesn't end up going badly enough to require an apology in the media...

I asked one of the young staff at DSE Lower Hutt about this Saturday and was told starting Monday or Tuesday but some was already marked down however the cheapest game was $15 and it was one that was labelled as $1 on their website. He did say that they were trying theiirr best to clear out all stock 1 or more years old.

Well, some DSE Australia employees are actually denying those reports, and saying they're just trying to get rid of old stock (then why are Xbox 360s on sale then?)

Hard to say what's really going through their minds.

Today :)

Cheap software (mainly old titles though). No deals on hardware.  I am very happy with my haul though, should keep me going for a while:

Turns out it is today (even though I was told by 3 Dick smith employees it was tomorrow) went down and they had less then 10 PS3 games on clearance.

Got Smackdown Vs Raw 2012, Mirrors Edge and Avatar for PS3 for $21 combined.

I wasn't really bothered for the lack of games, any deals a good deal.

Yeah i just popped down, looks like i may have missed all the good ones, only one PS3 title left in the $1 section lol

Oh, and word to the wise, don't ask the sales staff if they have any others in stock, the guy i talked to became rather unfriendly when i did (even though i was pretty sure i was polite lol)
