As per the thread on r/newzealand on reddit

http://www.reddit.com/comments/rndts/dick_smith_will_be_liquidating_their_game_stock/

Dick smith will be having a gaming sale mid next week (Different people have been told 10th or 11th of April, I was advised the 11th by our local dick smith store in Oamaru). There was quite a few games in the pile they were marking down (couldn't see any of the games unfortunately but they were for different consoles) behind the desk I was advised all prices of marked down games would be between $1 and $10. So might be something to go in and ask about or head into to your local dick smith next week to check out.
Australia are having a similar sale as well coming up next week

According to Woolworths Australia, they've opted to stop selling games. Which is inevitably bad, as it gives Gamestop a frighteningly large monopoly. Let's hope The Warehouse or someone steps up their game. (Ha. Ha.)

EBGames to monopolise? Hmm... seem like it's a space that MightyApe can get into.

We actually only have one really good souvlaki shop, though another one is not too bad..

You can come down and pick them up this weekend if you want, but I expect JB HiFi be running this weekend as well.

Deal?

You can get good deals on trademe for second hand games, but the DSE deals could be good. I see though that in the future games may not be able to be resold due to requiring to be connected online for authorisation, which will kill the second hand market.

The next-gen PlayStation is rumoured to have hardware designed to prevent secondhand games from working at all, which has prompted GameStop to threaten not to carry it at all.  Although now that GAME apparently pays royalties to publishers on secondhand trades, expect the publishers to start tightening the screws on GameStop, JB, maybe even TradeMe next.
