Shout out to Mighty Ape and there return policy. I bought some earbuds from them and about 4 months later one ear bud stopped working, I rang them explained what happened and they said fine what would i like to do. Since they had none in stock i said i would like a refund. No problem the money would be in your account in a day or two and it was. I said were would you like the earbuds sent to and was told its fine we dont need them we believe you . Made my day and it's why i will go back to Mighty Ape.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I'll give a shout-out to Need a part who deal with various small appliance spare parts.
In my case I'd worn the non-stick surface off my breadmaker pan so ordered a replacement one.
This turned up in a reasonable time but wouldn't fit. Turned out the base with its locating lugs had been riveted on the wrong way round. Made an enquiry on their site and sent them a photo of the old one plus the one they'd sent. No problem, they'd send me a replacement with the next bath of stock they received.
Unfortunately due to timing it was about a month before Breville could re-stock them but once they did I got an email saying it was on it's way.
So far, pretty normal.
I'd also been wanting to replace the kneading blade at the same time and had been waiting for more stock of that too. A quick check on their website showed it being back in stock. Gave them a call to see if the pan had already shipped and departed or if I could catch it and add the blade to the same package thus only costing me one shipping fee.
Unfortunately it had already been picked up but no problem said their representative, start putting the order through and I'll generate you a free shipping code to put in.

So, replacement pan for the replacement pan. And a kneading blade with free shipping even though it ended up in a separate shipment.
Maybe only a little thing but it makes a big difference in how I view the company.

Both TelstraClear and Vodafone (as an ex-TCL customer) have been good. I've been with both companies for a number of years now, and my experience has been that outages are rare and usually reasonably short. Most of my interactions have been via the social media team, and they've been super responsive, even when I had fairly technical questions, I got a quick and accurate response.

Huge thanks to the reps on Geekzone and the social media people :)

EDIT: And Mighty Ape also. Ordered a DVD on Friday evening, woke up to a package on the doorstep Saturday.

About Amazon. Twice - talking about eight years apart - I had a package that didn't arrive even weeks after the estimated date. They sent me a new one. In the first case they both arrived on the same day after all. When I contacted them to offer to return one they simply said to keep it or give to a friend as a gift.

Amazon - I purchased a Linksys router from them and it stopped working a month later. They replaced it for me on a Fri night (NZ time) and it was delivered on Sunday.

It cost me NZ$40 to ship back the faulty one and they refunded me US$40 back to my credit card as well as US$15 for the trouble. Highly impressed!!!

Another two Amazon things:

Lost my Kindle and reported it to Amazon (also removing it from my account) and they gave me a discount code to buy a new one for half price. My Kindle was later found in Tawa and returned to me.
Watched a movie on Amazon Instant Video last week and thanks to Vodafone's ongoing problems with cable network the streaming stopped a couple of times during the movie. Got an email next day saying that they have noticed some interruption in my streaming so they were refunding me the rental fee.

I think one thing I have noticed is that there is a tendency here in NZ to offer the minimum legal requirement and no more (not in every case but usually) whereas a lot of overseas people like Amazon almost automatically offer far more than they have to.

I'm not sure why. Cultural I suppose.

Halifax - My UK bank (never ever close a uk bank account).

Some minor issue which was easier to talk to someone about and so I prefixed it by saying, "I calling from nz".
Everything fixed over the phone then they credited me 10 pounds for the cost of the phone call !

Vodafone shop for getting my HTC fixed without any questions. First time returned reflashed after 4 days. Second time replaced with new phone after 10 days.

@ Geektastic (whatever props actually are - I have no idea but apparently being given them is good)

I think the more props you get the higher you can fly

So Props to Justin at Noel Leeming Manukau. We have a LED tv that had black lines appear across the bottom of the screen, out of warranty but Justin put it through as a warranty claim anyway. Repair store was going to charge us $110 to "Investigate" the cause, but the store is going to pay that.

At the end of last year I noticed that one of the earcups on my 18 month old KEF M500 headphones had worn out. Avalon audio replaced this free of charge and didn't even charge me for return shipping.

Big thanks to Harvey Norman,

we lost a vacuum attachment piece of a vacuum we bought from them.

The nice salesperson just ripped one off their display model and gave it to us for free.

Didn't expect that.

I wonder if anyone will have anything nice to say about wilson or tournament parking here :)
