Difference in rubber - the soles of these slippers are really soft.

I suspect it is a really soft foam type rubber, which will wear faster than harder types. They will probably say that the hard rubber will cause marks on carpet, or something like that. My dad wears slippers, and he has had the same ones for the past 15 years and they have a medium rubber sole. He also has some older leather soled ones which have lasted forever. I believe he gets his from England, from one of those big department stores, they tend to sell some pretty good quality things.

It's not foam rubber, it's rubber. But good point about hard rubber and carpet, will have to be careful with the replacement soles just ordered. My previous slippers did a better job. May see if I can find more of them.

Exactly, high cost, may just be high margin for the seller. This is why I prefer to buy branded goods, as you can see what other retailers are selling them for to get a fair idea of the true value of them. This is why I avoid home branded stuff, apart from things like nz milk, which all comes from the same place.

Bit hard to work out the quality of slippers, not many people in NZ review things. It's a fairly common brand, and in person I judged them to be good quality.

Got them about 6 years ago (maybe more?). Still as good as new on the soles. I do not wear them daily, but they get a fair bit of use over winter.

mattwnz: My dad purchased some formal shoes from there that died an early death. Think the sole came away from the upper, with hardly any wear. But he got fobbed off the wear and tear line, as as they were under $100 he didn't bother fighting it.

I bought two pairs of business shoes from Hannah's and the upper came away from the sole on both pairs in less than six months. I took them back and they replaced them with two new pairs of the same shoes, with no argument or excuses. Then the same thing happened to one of the replacement pairs about four months later and they replaced that as well. The second of the original replacements lasted about three years.

One thing I found though is that these days a lot of shoes these days look like dress/business shoes on top use a softer rubber molded type sole, which a number of shoe repairers can't (or don't want to) fix - unlike the old "stacked leather" sole and heel that you could get repaired over and over.
