Some of their pricing seems remarkably like DSE.    For example one month the Canon 1300 D will be $799.00.      Next month it will be something like $799.00 with 20% off.    Month after that it will be $599.00.     Then it starts all over again.     Bet they are selling very few cameras, I have never seen anyone looking at a camera except for the GoPro type.     I think they have the fancy cameras right at the entrance to create the impression of being a quality tech shop.

I thought you meant westfield queensgate initially. Maybe they are just moving to a standalone shop, so they don't have to also pay a percentage to the mall?

queensgate hasn't been westfield for nearly a year now...  but i'm quite happy to have jb-hifi there. i'm sure it helps keep noel leeming and harvey norman in check, i.e. price matching.

Maybe they want to cut the dead wood out of their operations to avoid having to invest big money in new stores or leases when the market will be a lot more competitive.

And by that I mean, Amazon is coming.

trig42: Finally! JB HiFi has a new website here ...

Ahh, that explains all the extra e-mails in my Inbox from them.

I have been getting heaps of emails too over the last week, which wasn't good of them. The unsubscribe link put a stop to those.

The website can't be working for them if it's only responsible for 2.1% of their total sales...

It doesn't matter how many percent it's growing if the base is that low.

No mention in the article of the 15 million dollar write down for the NZ business either??

The heaps of emails have not stopped. Opting to un-subscribe as well.

MikeB4:

A much better website. Now they have to clean up their stores especially to get rid of the horrible smell that permeates some of them, especially Willis St Wgtn store.

The smell was apparent when it was LV Martin back in the day.

The old LV Martin.  I thought that was on Lambton Quay?    Maybe LV Martin had two shops.

JB has a vastly better range & amount of stock than DSE had towards the end.   However, I don't find the JB prices especially appealing.    The Riccarton shop has a huge sign saying 'Smashing Prices' or some thing like that, yet I find the prices at places such as PB Tech & Warehouse Stationery to be sharper most of the time.   Hardly surprising as PB Tech & Warehouse Stationery do not have huge lease payments for prime mall sites.
