mainly seems to be affecting courier pos.  I've received domestic parcels via other courier companies (e.g. PBT), quite quickly.

xpd:

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from AU and NZ in the past week, only one arrived so far. That was an order from Harvey Norman - ordered on Saturday, it was here yesterday.

I'm just being patient as everyone should be.

Hi, yep agree as in my original post I totally understand, its just during Level4 I ordered a number of items online, and items were delivered in normal prompt times. However this one was the first time I have had the delay, and as I said, totally understand, but was just checking if others were experiencing it also, clearly so. Thanks for the Herald link.

Cheers

These delays are effecting most if not all courier services, I know Courier Post are using Posties to help deliver items because they’re so overloaded, PBT Couriers are prioritising boxes over odd shaped items like tyres (big hole in the middle = unused cubic in their trucks) to try clear the backlog.

Level 3 allowed online purchases and in short it overloaded the Couriers capacity as they still had warehouses full of non essential parcels from level 4 to deal with as essential items were priority than.

i blame The Warehouse, you order 4-5 items and they break it up into 5 parcels and send 1 at a time , they started at 3-5 days for delivery and now that is out to 10-14 days and they are swamping courier post . they also had a big easter egg sell out and that has made it worse, they are sending  1 item at $1.97 through courier post one at a time.

I have 6 separate parcels coming with Easter eggs!

Almost bought some bubble-wrap through Warehouse Stationary yesterday, but saw that it would take 10-14 days to get here. Did a quick google search and luckily found that Storage King in Hamilton were selling bubble-wrap at a somewhat decent price, and could do pick-up.

Would've been stoked if I could do PB-Tech pickup in Hamilton as well, but seems most items are in the Auckland Warehouse.

I don't have a problem with some delays. However, it's unethical for CP to be taking the fee for a courier standard of delivery but offering pigeon postage speeds.

I suspect that not only are the couriers physically overloaded with parcels; but their IT systems are also struggling under the load too.

I had a parcel that I had update notifications turned on for; I got a couple of updates on 30 April / 1 May that it was in the East Tamaki sorting center; then dead air until suddenly it was "out for delivery" (I'm in Porirua) on the 5th May; so it made it from Auckland to Wellington and through the Wellington sorting process with NO updates on the tracking system at all.

Either they've given up scanning items (seems unlikely, as they still need to know where they are, surely?), or their IT systems are also straining to cope and they've turned some features off.

I've heard post haste have skipped scanning in some depots to speed things up

Yeah, this is similar to a parcel i'm waiting on.

Ordered on 1/05.

Tracking number assigned 4/05.

As of right now, their tracking says the parcel hasn't entered their network yet.

After signing up for notifications however, I received a status update last night saying the status was "Sort To on 5/05/20 at 7:48 pm"

I hope your package doesn't get lost as without the scanning there is no record of it.

IME they are still scanning at pickup and dropoff - so they are recording when it enters their care, and thus would be liable for losing it. The only question would be how long it would take them to accept that they have lost it, rather than claiming it's on the way

I ordered something from Kogan on 23 April. Took till 2 May to be handed over to PBT. Took PBT till 6 May to actually move the parcel from Auckland to Christchurch and still not out for delivery.

Regarding CourierPost. Seems like it would be simple to switch off overnight delivery for everyone except essential businesses but I'm sure they'll be happy to keep collecting the money and delivering a sub-standard service while claiming force majeure or similar.

I've actually found everyone to be pretty good. Courier Post economy still mostly 2 days, sometimes 3, NZC in the SI has been overnight reliably, PBT has been OK (pretty slack but no worse than normal). Maybe I've just got lucky so far.

Edit - there was a small problem with a Post Haste driver around here who had to go into self isolation but had a van full of packages.....that was a bit problematic for a few days.

Mixed results from PB tech. Ordered play / charge kit for xbox controller and headset adapter at same time. Tracking link sent 1/5, only just now showing as picked up for the xbox charge kit. Received 2nd email advising courier for headset adapter on 4/5, this is showing as out for delivery. Also ordered new TV on 4/5 (PB) this is showing as information submitted to Mainfreight. Not really surprising, nothing in there that is critical I have it urgently
