So glad to see this being discussed here. I'm thinking of getting into Ram Raids myself, I hear it's becoming quite popular and it seem to be a good way to make some money on the side of my regular 9 to 5.

Does anyone here have any experience, hints or tips I should be aware of starting out in the 'raid business for the first time?  I asked on Twitter today and I got a few tips, probably the best one being "Don't drive into the stores with bollards out the front" but aside from that I've not got a lot of advice.

I guess what I'm mostly worried about is, I'm not a youth, I'm 40 plus!  Does that matter when it comes to driving a car through a window and grabbing everything in sight?

Thanks!

My advice would be to get as many friends involved as possible and ensure you either live stream it, or record and upload it later with some cool beats and maybe some gangsta effects.

Stick to the good stuf: ciggies, TV's (small ones - you can only fit one big one in, so the smaller ones are better for transport), loose change.

Also - for real audience recognition - tell the camera who you are. Otherwise, you could be any old Johnny, which won't make you famous at all.

Oh...and do a dance in the middle of the raid - it's for Tik Tok after all.

What you need to do, is get the family involved.
Get your kids to do the risky bit , as they cant get arrested , being under age. Just wait down the road & reap the rewards .

A responsible parent would have been teaching your children how easy crime is .
Ram raiding is a good trade to teach them . Get them started on the right track .

Start off by sending your 6 year old into the dairy to steal drinks while you sit In the car (this actually happened, several times , same parent/kid)

Crime in NZ is getting to be out of control.

How different from say Singapore where they’ve hanged a couple of drug dealers in the past few months.

Time to treat criminals like criminals not social work projects.

How did they not see this coming with the coverage.

Another raid overnight. Christchurch booze shop

The passenger can be seen quite clearly with their cell phone up filming themselves driving into the door multiple times. Presumably tiktok as no thought put into it to go landscape...

It's about notoriety more than anything else now.

If you're over 40 you may find staying up till 2AM quite challenging so make sure you have an afternoon nap beforehand. Oh, you have one anyway? Cool.

Also, not sure if it's mentioned but back through the shop doors so your stolen car's radiator will be undamaged for fleeing from the fuzz. Yes, you're supposed to use someone else's car.

I'd also advise bracing the boot with a couple of stolen TV's so that the back end doesn't just crumple under the pressure of the smash.

You, an otherwise law abiding citizen (I assume) they will jail.  Only scum get light sentences.  It's a frequent customer discount.

The offenders only stole $50 in product, but caused more than $42,000 in damage.

The Nissan Leaf will make a good get away vehicle, especially the earlier models - there's an almost guarantee of getting caught once the cops give chase.  One reason why I never park mine outside on the road fully charged.

Part of me wasn't unhappy to read about the kid that got dealt to when he robbed a rural property for the 2nd time, cutting off a finger was a step too far, but having the shit kicked out of him by the occupants, I would have no issue with. Would certainly be more of a lesson than "being surrounded by supportive Whanau"..........

Take away their devices and ban them from owning devices and block their internet at home to all social media sites and gaming except for banking. The whole family can suffer without it. Police take away cars and houses used for crime, time to take away privileges where they use the device to organise and stream committing these acts.

Surely they can be traced by the Telcos as they do in other countries where they know exactly which phone was in a target area. I’ve seen a number of murders in Europe solved by this method. They also require you to register each device that connects to data and internet with personal ID. You can’t get access without being registered.

I think these offenders would be more worried about loss of devices and access to internet than any other punishment. That’s their connection to a fan club of like minded individuals. Cushy prisons don’t work.

It’s heart breaking to think of the young children involved and their future lives.

I hadn't heard about this but then this turned up on Stuff.  Seems it was actually the 4th time and the violence was instigated by 'the kid'
