old3eyes: If you go the the shopping mall in Papatoetoe in South Auckland and look at the signs above the side road door there is still a Georgie Pie sign there.

is that on THIS door?

I still have Georgie-pie trays, menuboards (with little indians one buck, two bucks 3 bucks etc), fittings and recipes along with a couple of small "Funtastic value" signs (I think they are official) all bunged away at Mums place. Should pull them out and scan them.

Yes. That's the door.. I think that the sign is above the canopy or to the right of it..

Edit. Go down the road to the rite and look at the sign above the tree. You can just see it..

There are a few Jester's Pies stores around now in malls and shopping areas. I used to get a pie from the one in Takapuna every now and then a few years ago when I worked on the North Shore.

I walk through that door once a week to buy my coffee, where about is the sign exactly? I'll take a photo of it next time I'm through there.

It's a small logo on this sign. come to think of it, I remember seeing it less than 6 months ago and totally forgetting.

The plastic food items that were sitting above the actual stores in the foodcout had a pie for georgie pie, a bowl for the chinese, a fish for LJS etc for many years afterwards. I had a few pictures of them until last week when NTFS and the demon that is the IE based "explorer.exe" failed me and killed my entire photo archive while backing up :-( They were among the first 20 images taken with my then cutting edge 4MP camera

Look to the rite and you will see a tree about 20 meters away from the side door.. , Lookup to the sign behind the tree..

Has anyone been to the GP pies store in kelston? They are supposed to be the same recipe as the original pies. McD's ordered them to take down their signs though. I've been going for about 2 weeks now but every time I get there they have sold out of pies and closed :(

The problem is it's a flawed business model. GP went bust and primarily because of the high costs. They had large premises, large numbers of staff and in the end were selling $1 products with an average customer sale of $1 - $2 which was far too low to be making money.

surely a pie selling company in the dunkin doughnuts style of business (much smaller shops) would do awesome?
