I'd say this is unlikely. I'm sure they have checks in for this sort of thing. Otherwise hundreds of places that force their staff through a proxy or are behind a NAT IP would be stuffed.

Not entirely true, we had one account disabled as two people in the same house had the same domain name for their email address. But they were different, bob@example.com and tim@example.com.
Trademe used that as their reason to disable, and would not reinstate, so we lost an account. Now the other account has to be shared, as we do not want to risk it again.

I had this happen to me also, my wife and I had an account each, and they banned both of them, took me about two days to prove to them that they were seperate accounts, I even had to email them a copy of each of our drivers licences.

Even then they said they would only reinstate one of the accounts, which is a big pain because my wifes watchlist is crazy huge, and I can t be bothered wading through all her crap!

Was a big big issue to get it fixed though

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life. What are the chances of that like?

Apologies for keeping the off topic slide going - but this 'same IP / diff account' issue is not that hard.

When I set-up an account for myself (me & the wife were sharing, but that's a no-no in T&M T&C's) we simply let them know (email) and put each other on our blacklists (and told T&M that as well)

No issue - No problem.

Once I got my head around that this was their site and not mine it made more sense.

Of course. I was talking only about work environments (as kiwitrc was talking about)

I have no doubt they're a lot more strict when they see multiple connections coming from the dynamic IP pools of home ADSL connections.

dont be so harsh on the OP! maybe he's got something to hide, maybe he doesnt. no we can't help him. yes it's a waste of forum time/space. good luck though

I'd hazard a guess that if husband accidentally posts from wife's account or vice versa in the message boards that would be the trigger for getting one of them disabled.

I don't think TradeMe have much in the way of automated detection of this so unless you come to light by a board posting or shill bidding they don't know or care.

I've caught a few shill bidders over the years, you'd think if anything was easy to detect that would be, the people that do it probably are not bright enough to know about IP addresses.

We have never been banned or warned. If you have been banned or warned, you have done something to warrant it.

our 2nd account was banned about 30mins after we created it and listed baby clothing. 1st account had been active for about 5 years. *shrug shoulders

The problem is that not all businesses need to be GST registered. You only need GST registration if you are conducting a taxable activity and the value of your supplies is over $60,000 for the year.

Even a "Trade me only" business needs to register for GST if supplies will be over $60,000.

It sounds like a rule that some bureaucrat came up with to avoid the need to think.
