Hi All,

I'm really pissed off with TradeMe, they terminated my account without any warning and after I sent complaint they even replied with stupid ridiculous reason

'Thanks for contacting us.

Our security software has detected links between your account and a previously disabled account. Because of this your membership has been permanently closed. You are not permitted to use our site. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

If you have further questions regarding this issue please reply and we will answer your email as soon as possible.

Regards,'

Been read the whole TradeMe story on this forum and most of them get kicked off with this stupid reason.

Wondering if anyone here had experienced with this but at the end got their membership back?

I often sell items on TradeMe and my account still have money on it that's what pissed me off badly!!

Anyone know TradeMe support manager? I'm keen to contact the boss directly rather than arguing with stupid paid monkey manual orientation customer service staff.

Cheers

I bet your one of those message board people. Good riddance. In all seriousness though, they don't do this lightly. I highly doubt they did it for no reason. It is their website and they control who they want on it and that apparently isn't you!

How about:
a. list the reasons for your complaint in the first place and
b. post the actual (word for word) complaint you sent to Trademe

People *may* have a slightly more balanced picture after you post these, although it is still just your side of the story at the the end of the day.

well basically I asked them to give me the details what links they're talking and evidence of what they're accusing.

My view? You joined to make this a soap box. It isn't. Posting here won't bring your account back. Also calling people 'monkeys' shows to me there is something more going on here.

Have you shared your internet with someone that has had an account disabled by Trademe?

They would have checked your IP number against the IP logs for disabled accounts and could have got a false positive that way. If your in a flat then one of your flatmates might have been band and that would result in the whole flat being band.

I got a warning one time because a friend visiting checked there tademe auctions on my internet connect and later on I bid on one of there auctions (and won), they said I was shill bidding. Should have just asked my friend to pull the auction and brought it, then I wouldn't have got the warning, even thought I would have then been breaking the rules.

And what were they accusing you of over links? Advertising? Illegal links? Any other link against their rules? They wouldn't ban/warn people without a reason, it would be bad business practise.

Edit: wait, I just read your original post. They mean the "links" with a disabled account? I find it hard to believe that if there were NO links (and you articulated yourself well and politely when you queried the ban), that you wouldn't be able to make some headway with them.

All I can say is, you don't appear to have the facts to back up your claims.

Do prove me wrong though.

That happened to me too. Only happened after they used my computer so I am vuessing its one of the many many cookies that trademe set that gave it away.

I would like to say it sounds like they have told you their reason. As your account has been linked to a previously banned account.

You do have a right to ask to have details of the old banned account. It does not however mean they will provide it to you.

I had my account suspended from trading for supposedly selling fakes (If memory serves it was Hannah Montana stuff bought in the states) they froze our account until i proved that i had purchased them legitimately (luckily i had the receipts still as they were bought from Target in the USA).

They did not apologise for any inconvienence and sent me a generic email advising that our account had been reinstated.

The choice is theirs to make as it's their site. Or if you wanna touch on a similar point you only have to look here on GZ it's the Owners right to ban or send members emails if they choose. No one forces you to use the site. By using their site you have to agree to the terms of use. If they feel you are not meeting these then they can stop you from using the site.

Slight change to topic sorry, but we have a fixed IP at work and at least 6 different people who access Trademe from work, if someone cocks up can we all get burnt?

I'd say this is unlikely. I'm sure they have checks in for this sort of thing. Otherwise hundreds of places that force their staff through a proxy or are behind a NAT IP would be stuffed.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.
