I would rate The Wire as my favourite series. My wife and I were recently talking about re-watching it - @Handle9: how well has it stood up to the test of time?

That scene is luckily available on YT!

The Wire is one of the greatest shows of all time. The phone/pager stuff has dated a bit but is still really cool. The urban decay and politics is even more relevant today IMO.

I should also add that David Simon is an incredibly angry and profane follow on Twitter. His swearing is both incredibly excessive and poetic. I rather like him.

Peacemaker on Neon 8/10

I like James Gunn's stuff but wasn't too fond of Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad. He was a bit of a dick and I was surprised when they made a series out of this one dimensional character.

I stand corrected. Having the ability of a series to delve into the character has changed my mind. John Cena shows us his acting chops and proves he's not just another Rock or Vin Diesel. James Gunn has this special thing about finding the right (and often obscure or long forgotten) music fit scenes and this is some of his finest work. Case in point, the unskippable intro and the montage at the end of season 4. I found his playlists on Spotify and am listening through them now.

I haven't watched this yet, but you're right about Gunn...he turns old classics into new hits simply by fitting them correctly to an emotion or a scene and giving them new life.

GOTG was a classic example of that - the Peter Quill tapes have become massive hits.

@Handle9: I’ve been rewatching The Wire this week. I just watched the f*ck scene. It’s still one of the best 5 minutes of TV ever.

Those of you with dirty minds, while it has nudity, it’s not what you think.

I've not seen this series. Is this streamed, or from another source?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

It's on Neon.

I haven't watched it in a while, might revisit it this winter. Give it a couple of episodes, it started slow then I was hooked.

Watched the first episode of season 6 of Billions

Based on the storyline tangent in the episode, I can see this show running out of steam quite quickly.

Just finished the 3rd and final series of After Life (Netflix)

Along the same lines of the first 2 series so nothing revolutionary, but an easy watch, short episodes, and nice to have a story concluded properly (and not cancelled!).  Bit of fan dissatisfaction on the ending but I thought it was a great way to finish things.

‘The Responder’ on BBC - Martin Freeman, Ian Hart, Warren Brown and (believe it or not, for those like me old enough to remember her) Rita Tushingham. Watched one episode out of five so far - excellent.

Been enjoying 1883

A prequel to Yellowstone

From Rotten Tomatoes:

"It is a beautifully produced ode -- complete with superstar cameos -- to grim nation building and the initial episodes are uncompromising and compelling."

Streaming on Paramount+ (Which is not available in NZ, boo!) but I think it might be available on Amazon Prime here in NZ.
