Abandonment Issues on TVNZ on Demand

Episode 1 looking to see what happened to Ben Lummis and Michael Murphy

I didn't intend to watch this - it's not something I would typically watch but I was tired and couldn't be bothered finding anything else to watch. Put the brain on park and next thing you know I had watched the whole episode. Some amusing moments and a cameo from Petra Baghurst at the end. Be keen to see who else they dig up from the past (Erin Simpson it seems).

Although I could have saved myself 22 minutes by just googling the people to see what they are up to now. This is no Missing Pieces (which I'm not a fan of)

Halo (TVNZ on Demand)

Moonknight (Disney+)

Halo was good - it had a slight feel of Syfy channel production, but was enjoyable enough for me to want to keep watching

Moonknight - I really didn't know what to expect from this: as it turns out, I still don't know what to expect from this. I really, really enjoyed it. High production values, good actors, weird twists and generally very polished. Wasn't expecting to see Ethan Hawke in it either - I like him and it was a bit of a bonus.

TLD:

It was a good show if you didn't take it too seriously, but a bit like those old Westerns where they never run out of bullets.

This had me tilted while watching the last season of better call saul, as someone who did shooting as a sport for many years before the new firearm reforms came into act seeing these guys with full automatic rifles and 30 round magazines shooting for minutes when an AR15 can expense 30 rounds in 2 seconds really got my eye twitching.. considering how much effort the writers go to keeping all the legal jargon as accurate as possible [right down to new Mexico's laws!] but hey would be pretty boring if someone was reloading every 2 seconds I guess 🤷‍♂️

this season eventually ended up getting really, really good.. to the point it felt like Ridley was back writing.. really enjoyed and looking forward to the next season!

Just started watching Blue Bloods. Really enjoying it so far, solid cast, interesting plot points. Selleck is fantastic and surprisingly; so is Donnie On The Block. Nice to have 12 seasons to chew through without the worry of it being canned by Netflix after 3 seasons because they're too cheap to pay contracts.

^ ditto Moon Knight.

Halo on the other hand was rubbish, I don't know anything about the game roots but as a piece of sci-fi it was by-the-numbers.

Where was the $200m production costs spent ?

Not on the script, actors or special effects.

😆

Julia 2022 - Docuseries based on Julia Child.

The outstanding first episode, don't recall the last time I enjoyed a pilot more.

What a character she was. David Hyde is an excellent match for his role too.

I'd consider it pretty good even if you aren't a foodie. Very accessible.

I'm still waiting for Halo to really start. See 2 episodes and my wife fell asleep during episode 2 as there was so little plot.

Does this actually have appeal outside of the people who pay the games.

I've played the game and it's not been that much more interesting.

I have found recognising the weapons and vehicles interesting.

Plot may be a slow burn, if things don't hurry up, I won't be there for it.

And it has already been renewed for Season 2 so the Studio / Network already has high expectations.

Wow Ep 2 of Julia was just as good if not better. On to a winner I think.

Wheel of Time season 1 on Amazon Prime Video.

I really, really enjoyed this. I was dubious at first when told that it would be Amazon's "Game of Thrones", but I feel it was more like Lord of the Rings without the Hobbits.

Will I watch season 2? Yes. Definitely.

Was I disappointed with the last 1/2hr of the final episode? Yes.

Am I looking forward to the new season, whenever that may be? Yes.

I haven't read the books, so know nothing about the story, but this was engaging almost from the off. I enjoy fantasy epics, but they do get tiresome if not done well. This was done well.

8.5/10

@ilovemusic:

ITV's adaptation of the 60's Cold War classic The Ipcress File.

Excellent cast.

Well paced at only six episodes.

Provides more background into Harry Palmer than the Michael Caine film.

Very good

8/10

This is coming to Acorn TV from 18 April.

This is coming to Acorn next week as mentioned. Just watched the screener for Episode 1 and as mentioned it's a good cast, great atmosphere, location is excellent, great cold war story.
