Arrival. Not "Best Picture" material at all. 6/10 if that.

^Yeah I have to say I wasn't blown away by Arrival, certainly not to the extent that it deserved the hype it got. It was fine I guess.

the local version is limited to a 5.1 soundtrack whereas everywhere else gets a full on 7.1 soundtrack.
why mr sony ???
Lion, 7/10
Technically a well-made film; the first act I felt captured India very well - having visited a only few years ago, what was shown on the screen looked and seemed very realistic.
However, having said that, I thought the film dragged it's way a bit through the second half; and I personally found the motivation/behaviour of the main character to be somewhat irritating (and I thought a little OTT and unbelieveable). Well acted though.
Unfortunately, as the film is "based on a true story", it is very predictable; the fact that the main character will achieve his goal is never in doubt; so that robs the film of a lot of the suspense that reality would provide.
And the scenes of the actual people in the end-credits was a nice touch.
Edit: Why can't I ever get the URL tags to work on a mobile device?
Watched Arrival on Sky Box Office tonight at a relatives place - it was very dark in brightness levels. Yet the promo's prior to the movie were ok. This was using an epson projector onto a 3mtr screen. Also tested it on a LCD 50" flatscreen, same result, dark picture.
Rang Sky help desk and they said that was the movie and couldn't do anything about it.
Any body else have the same problem or is this how the movie was made?
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Don't know how it was in the cinema, but the blu-ray release is pretty dark with terrible black levels (the best you get is dark grey). Either how it was intended, or someone screwed up the master they used for the home video release.
Arrival to me had that same togs togs togs undies plotline as say Interstellar did, where it's realistic realistic realistic WTF?!
It was shot in a cool cinematic (bordering on too obviously trying to be arty (every camera angle had slow movement constantly for no particular reason type stuff)) and obviously had high production values.
As with others, glad I watched it, but not quite living up to the hype around being awards material to me.
T2 Trainspotting.
The movie purist in me says that some films should not be messed with, and Trainspotting is one of those. It was the seminal Brit film of the 90s and one of my favourites.
So I went into T2 with a fair amount of apprehension.
I’m still not sure that a follow up was required, but we have one, and it’s about as good as it could be. In fact, it’s great. Danny Boyle’s visual flair, a great soundtrack mixing in both the 90’s and contemporary, subtle nods to the original, more black humour … and, of course, Renton, Sick Boy, (an even more scarier) Begbie and Spud. And where the original was Renton’s film, T2 is Spud’s.
I loved it. And if you loved the original, I reckon you will too. If you didn't like the original, maybe avoid.
(If you enjoyed the original, but it's been a while since you have seen it, I highly recommend watching it again before T2 as there are a lot of referencing between the two)
Reservoir Dogs
Brilliant directing debut from my favorite director, Quentin Tarantino.
This movie changed the course for independent films.
Underappreciated at the time of release, it's become a cult classic.

Couldn't agree more. Didn't have high expectations as these long-awaited sequels are usually very disappointing, but I thought it was a great movie. Unique enough in its own right, with plenty of references to the original to tie them together. Very enjoyable, albeit showing the very dark side of the hopelessness of drug addiction.
Just watched resident Evil final chapter
liked all parts until now.
I Eat Dumbbells for Breakfast
Passengers: Good movie, remind you of 'Interstellar' . Its quiet interesting to watch.

Passengers: Better than I was expecting. 7/10
