Lie about your age. I know how old you are (and you know how old I am). I tell people I'm 10 years older. It's very gratifying the comments I get, so "with it", fit, healthy and youthful.

OTOH my standard reply to checkout operators when they ask me "did you find everything you needed" is to reply "I don't know - I've probably forgotten something - do you know what it could be?".

My baits are definitely well fastened in place. I just use long square drive screws and my impact driver. I have 13 bait locations, and I replenish them weekly (only have 1 bait block per station). Between 1/3 and 1/2 of the baits need replacing each week. And it is always the ones on my property boundaries that get cleaned out compared to the ones close to my house. The ones close to my house often only get taken if I have been slack with replenishing the boundary ones.

Just checked 6 of the easily accessible boundary ones. 5 are gone, 6th one will be gone by the weekend.

People 2 doors down putting their filthy rubbish in my recycling bin!

Even half full 2l bottles of rotten milk.

No wonder most recycling goes to landfill.

It's illegal to use someone else's bin without permission. If you know who it is then go dump it on their doorstep or something :)

I caught her. Told her to take it out - she only took the clean stuff. I then removed the other stinky stuff and returned it!

They have done it before here and to the neighbours!

It seems it is a series of coloured bins here in Christchurch.

You pick which colour bin to put your rubbish in today, whether it be Red / Yellow / or Green!

The majority goes to landfill anyway due to contamination / no market for the recyclables anyway.

I've heard this a number of times, and I've never seen actual proof of law to back that statement up.

Do you have a pointer to some actual legislation that covers this? I'm genuinely curious; not trying to "have a go"...

I must admit that I'm simply reposting what I've heard; I don't have a reference to the actual law.

Edit: Litter Act 15(1)(b):

Every person commits an offence and is liable on conviction, in the case of an individual, to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or, in the case of a body corporate, to a fine not exceeding $20,000, who deposits any litter or, having deposited any litter, leaves it in or on private land without the consent of its occupier.

Aha, loophole - when the bin is out at the curb its on council land. OTOH, I think many councils have a bylaw claiming ownership of recyclables once they are put out at the curbside. A leftover from when aluminium was worth money to recycle and people would pillage it on collection day before the trucks got to it.

When I used to have a ute , people used to deposit small items of litter on the back (drop side tray).

I didn't always notice them. And a squashed can will get air-borne about 70kmh ... actually a little dangerous for other road users.
