SJB:Arrival was worse, much worse.

Agree - absolutely appalling 1/5

Also watched "The Magnificent Seven - 2016 last week", Yul Brynner & cast will be rolling in their graves and as for "Akira Kurosawa" and his original "Seven Samurai - 1954", it is a wonder he doesn't get up & out and shoot the lot of them. Very disappointed in Denzel Washington, I thought he would know better. I gave 2½/5.

"Hidden Figures' also watched last week - brilliant. Those woman were treated appalling even for the times. 5/5

A bit worried whether I should watch "Pork Pie - 2017" as I have the original "Goodbye Pork Pie -1980" and loved that - 4/5.

I suggested to the United Video 20yr old something girl to watch the original "Ben Hur" before she watched the remake and she was blown away by the original. God I hope they don't remake "Gone with the Wind", "Maltese Falcon" or "Cleopatra" (no cgi with any of these movie's)

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

In real life Katherine just used the 'white' bathroom. After a few years someone actually complained, and she ignored it. NACA/NASA was ahead of the times. President Johnson actually used NASA as a springboard for southern integration. Even so, many people had problems there. It's a great film, and it is representative of real problems that people had at NASA.

La La Land 6/10

A harmless way to spend a couple of hours.

Heh, if I could have given it -5 from 10 I would have. Worst movie I have seen in 20 years bar none.

Arrival was worse, much worse.

Arrival is one of my favourite sci Fi movies of the last few years, easy 8 or 9 out of 10 from me

Agreed on la la land though.

John Wick Chapter 2. 7/10

Easy way to spend 2 hours enjoying some action with little to no plot.

Melee fight scenes were excellent, would have taken a lot of work, looked exhausting.

I think someone needs to check how many bullets a hand gun can fire without reloading.

Watched it last night too.

Agreed the melee scenes were good. Interesting to see the extensive use of judo moves over the standard martial arts. Makes me want to learn judo.

Wasnt quite as good as the first movie imo but a worthy sequel. Like the underworld setup with the continental hotels and the "rules"

I really liked La La Land. A great story. Arrival? Not so much.

Just shows how everyone's tastes differ.

The absolute worst film in my recent memory was Jupiter Ascending.

Watched John Wick 2 in the weekend, to be honest it was a bit of a struggle in parts, some fights a bit long and drawn out but the shotgun scene was great.

I wouldn't put this on par with the first, 6.5/10 from me.

McLaren

Watched this last evening in a theatre full of predominately middle aged men... who, I'd say, all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonder Woman - Easily the best out of the franchise yet, I just wish they had done this before making Batman v Superman. It barely mentioned the franchise which probably helped it's cause. 7.5/10

Pirates 5 - Better than 4 and certainly not a bad effort from a franchise I find is getting a little stale. 6.5/10

Hidden Figures - Now I'll start by saying this is not a film I would've picked to watch but after not long I was watching with intent. A great story and a bit of an eye opener. 7.5/10

A couple of oldish ones.

The Tourist. Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Awful. Avoid. 3/10

Alive. The story of the plane that crashed in the Andes and the survivors who lasted nearly 10 weeks in freezing temperatures at altitude before being rescued. I don't know how they did it. 7.5/10.
