That this -

actually exists.

The Futurliners are pretty cool, there's several YouTube doccos on them, the view from the driver's cockpit is rather impressive. It inspired some movie vehicle but I've forgotten which film that was.

Since I have a special towel just for Towel Day, there is a sense of purpose again in my life in this galaxy. I took it out of the cupboard and inspected it carefully. The 42 is still intact and it is ready for use on May 25th.

@PeterReader Then hopefully there will also be a special GZ badge - won't there? 😊

Since today we have certified free driving cars on the streets (in GER). You are even allowed to read the newspaper during the ride … The only question for me is … why should I read the newspaper in a car starting at 140k€ when I can use the subway??

Kaitaia Fire is back in production. I mean the kiwifruit stuff, not the generic hot sauce they were making for awhile.

For people on the North Shore, they seem to be located somewhere in the area, I've emailed them asking if they have a physical outlet where you can pick it up directly.

Reading the install instructions for the replacement water filter cartridge:

Replace after 1 year if you're in the US. Replace after 2 years if you're in NZ.

I'm glad we don't live in a country with third-world water quality standards.

On a related note, you can get flow meters with 6mm push-fit connectors that you can use to monitor how much of your 15/30K litres you've used, either just the sensors if you want to DIY it or all-in-one units that just need batteries, useful for when you have no idea of how much use the current one has had and at $70+ a pop not something you want to swap out unnecessarily.

Scientists create tomatoes genetically edited to bolster vitamin D levels

So now the anti-GM crowd will have to choose between healthier CRISPR-edited tomatoes and less healthy non-GM ones.

The article already hints at where things are going in this case with a reference to a law change to allow GM-but-we-won't-call-it-GM food.

- Towel Day today! :-)

- Mexican BBQ and Star Trek evening next Saturday evening.

- The magnificent development of the solitary wild bee populations on the southern wall of the house.

- The smooth functioning so far of my small smart home drip irrigation system, which I have integrated from the components of various manufacturers. (I know that there are many problems lurking there that can arise later, but I have avoided the known ones from the outset).

- New deck chairs and parasol.

- Having rarer birds nesting in the garden that are not normally found in a big city (it‘s spring/summer here). Unfortunately, this is rather an indication that they now find more habitat in the city than in the more and more monocultural, green hell of the countryside.

The technical police squadron, with their mobile test vehicle, made the tough guys with the sound-tuned Harleys look like stupid schoolboys when there were traffic controls yesterday, after which some were allowed to walk home after being put out of action.

Those who are so rude as to make technically completely superfluous, ego-individualistic noise in the street canyons can expect no mercy. The guys will surely still have the sense and insight at some point, but you can't wait that long and the noise is now.

(Serious question)
Are there actual laws about this?! Often on a Friday I can hear a car coming from 100m away and wished there was some way of complaining.

Don't whole businesses in NZ rely on replacing perfectly working exhaust systems with noisy performance ones?

Seems every Subaru who passes me on street has a noisy aftermarket exhaust.

Tinderisk is the Germany so it’s not directly applicable

There are laws in Nz about vehicle noise.
