They wont be doing 10k in the mornings as there is usually only about 30 mins for their morning fitness. might get 2-3km in with some other exercises in there.

Should be aiming for at least level 10 on the beep test to not have too many issues during training. 7.10 is the minimum standard.

Picked up a new car on Wednesday. For the first time in 15yrs I have a car that fits my golf clubs in the boot, rear hatch without having to lay the rear seat flat. I know its not something that most people would put high on they're priorities when buying a new car but it's important to me and that makes me smile.

You've got a Jaaaaaag?

(I can't find the clip where Clarkson talks about a Jaaaaag being the car golfists use to transport their golf bats around unfortunately or I'd link to it above :-).

Unfortunately not, just a lowly Ford. But a nice Ford with many bells and whistles.

I am not a Brit but do listen to quite a bit of UK talk radio (LBC, because it's such a brilliant station). Overnight I heard someone describe Boris Johnson as a weird combination of Mr Toad and Billy Bunter. I guess I'm showing my age by recognising these ~100-year-old comic characters from Brit literature but this really tickled my funny bone.

It's not just the visual images it conjures up - both of which very apt - but also the merger of the two personalities. The self-congratulatory bluster and pomposity of Toad with the deceitful and greedy Billy Bunter.

I am not anti-Boris (used to be a fan, now not at all sure and neutral) - just thought this was very clever.

PS: Was just reading online about Bunter and Wikipedia describes his:

… cheery optimism, his comically transparent untruthfulness and inept attempts to conceal his antics from his schoolmasters and schoolfellows, combine to make a character that succeeds in being highly entertaining but which rarely attracts our lasting sympathy.

Sounds familiar.

Watching five Harvard's flying in formation over our house.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Sorry Stu - one Spitfire trounces five Harvards.

On Harvard trounces five Spitfire if it comes to volume. As a kid at Whenuapai and Ohakea, those buggers used to do touch and goes right above where I lived (it seemed). They're legendarily loud.

Maybe Harvards are loud - but it’s not about noise volume. It’s all about beauty, style, flair, presence, elegance, poise and grace. And service record. Very little there, Mr Harvard.

If we must talk about sound, let’s talk quality. The symphony of a 1,500hp V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin at high speed and low level (or even when idling) trounces a popping 600hp radial. Anyway, the raucous Harvard noise comes primarily from the tips of the propeller-blades.

Sorry - no contest. 😀

Pfft. We live not far from an airbase. F-16s and Mirage 2000s are in a different league.
