sir1963:

I have needed police help a few times to resolve issues and have NEVER been helped.

The time and effort wasted over John Key's "Cup of tea tape" that was dropped as soon as no more political milage could be gained was a deliberate waste of police time and resources, he should have been prosecuted.

As should Helen Clark have been.

My experience with the Police has been more positive. We've had a few successful prosecutions from CCTV footage. Sadly, the punishment often didn't fit the crime. The exception to prosecutions have been 'kids', where the Police knew who they were, but since our warped society treats adults under 18 as a children, despite their clearly knowing right from wrong, the Police couldn't really do anything, despite their crimes having a significantly higher dollar cost than many of the other matters.

As should ANYONE who uses the police as a political points scoring machine and wasting large amounts of police resources.

Stuff

***
Headline: "Women armed with bats rob and damage home in early hours. Police are still on the scene in central Auckland after being called to the property at 3.15am"

Article: "Police are investigating after a group of women turned up at a property in central Auckland’s Ōtāhuhu armed with bats in the early hours of Wednesday morning"
***

No need to panic in Central Auckland. The incident occurred in Ōtāhuhu 30km away from there. Was the article written by a real estate agent? ; ).

That's not even a comma.

Of course you’re totally correct - hoist on my own pedantic petard. Meant to say ellipsis.

And here was me thinking someone had cracked the quantum entanglement radio at last. What a let down.
