Behodar:

This sort of thing:

"YouTube Premium Quietly Hikes Subscription Prices in the US"

YouTube Premium is inanimate. It cannot hike prices. Google has hiked prices. Variations of this sort of headline seem to be really common in recent months and I'm not sure why.

With regards to the Kiri Allan crash, all the media reports talk about two flat tyres, and a white scratch on the rear panel. But no mention of the fact the rear axle is ripped right off its mount!!

That's unusual "reporting".  Normally it's way into "shock and awe" of over stating the impacts.

An article in Stuff on “nuclear powered rocket developed by NASA” reducing the time to get to Mars.

“It currently takes between seven and nine months to carry out the 225-kilometre trip but an engine powered by nuclear fission could send humans there in three to four months.”

If its only 225km to Mars, I could probably walk (physical limitations of walking in space notwithstanding 😂) in less than three to four months.

They've changed the wording now:

Should we pay GST on fruit and veges?

National deputy leader Nicola Willis said Labour plans to cut GST from fruit and vegetables. Do you think we should pay GST on fresh produce?

Were the results not following the narrative?

Saying "Yeah" to this is the opposite of saying "Yeah" to the old question. I hope this is a completely new poll, not that the results could be considered statistically significant at all.

The distance to Mars varies considerably depending where it is in its orbit of the sun and the earths orbit of the sun. The lauch has to timed to take advantage of the optimum distance.

Having said that I don't think the distance gets down to anything like 225 km.

I think you're in the wrong thread with this, you want the one discussing pricing trends at the Peking fish market.

Yeah, I did give that some thought but I'm not good on predicting fish prices.

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/on-the-inside/494939/70-years-of-road-based-policies-created-today-s-problems-does-national-s-transport-plan-add-up

The plan is nothing if not ambitious: More and bigger roads worth nearly NZ$25 billion over 10 years, including a four-lane motorway from Whangārei to Tauranga at a stated cost of $6 .

That might sound like a lot, with the cost per kilometre of road being about $20 million. But recent big road projects suggest it could be a significant underestimate.

Wellington's Transmission Gully spans just 27km and cost an estimated $1.25b - that equates to over $46 per kilometre. The recently opened Ara Tūhono (dubbed the "holiday highway") from Puhoi to Warkworth north of Auckland cost about $1.05b for just 18.5km - almost $57m per kilometre.

I know it's not a politics thread, but if National can really build a 4 lane motorway from Whangārei to Tauranga for $6 then I'll vote for them. $46 for a kilometer of road through Transmissioh Gully is pretty cheap too.

Perhaps RNZ should stick to their usual media measurement of a football field for length rather than this crazy metric system /s
