neb: Today being St.Angelo's day. For those who don't know, Angelo Moriondo, born 6 June 1851, was the inventor of the espresso machine.

Awsome but I doubt that he was canonised because of it. ;-)

Well he should be, you only need two miracles and the effects of a cup of coffee in the morning produce miraculous results thousands if not millions of times each day.

As a reformed Catholic, I concur.

That 6 years on we're still annoyed by the same small things.

Went looking for the "things that annoy me" thread and accidentally navigated to the first page rather than the last page. Decided to read through a couple of pages to see how things have changed. Not much it seems, we're still annoyed today by the same small things that annoyed us back in 2016.

That 6 years on there's still a thread where we can bitch and moan about things that annoy us. Great way to let off steam in a safe space with (usually) support from others.

That Geekzone is the kind of place that allows this to happen.

The video for the popular song 'Prince Andrew is a sweaty nonce'.

Their attempt at having the Christmas number one, by having 10 versions of the same song (Boris Johnson's still a XXXing &^%) at a minute long, so they can get "lots of streams in" was a classic.

Thoughts are free, who can guess them,

they flee past like nightime shadows.

No one can know them, no hunter can kill it/shoot it dead

It remains: The thoughts are free!

I think what I want and what makes me happy,

but always inwardly, and as it suits.

My wish, my desire no one can deny,

It remains: The thoughts are free!

And if someone locks me in the dark/gloomy prison,

All that is absolutely wasted work.

Because my thoughts pull the barriers to pieces and walls in two,

the thoughts are free!

I want to renounce forever the worries/sorrows

and want to never again plague myself with whims

One can in the heart always laugh and joke and think:

The thoughts are free!

(Translation of a german folk song from 1780 - and of the ‚White Rose‘ against the Nazi tyranny) :-)

Modern international version after the case Charlie Hebdo

… and the Bavarian Heavy Metal version ;-) … for the Rammstein freaks.

I prefer to go in the other direction, Van Halen just doesn't sound right unless it's done on an accordion, slide trombone, and tuba, with yodelling.

Winter nights watching TV in bed before sleeping. Arms usually out to change channels on the remote so hands always cold as the room is not as warm as the living area.

Was grinning ear to ear when I realised that my Bluetooth Smart Vu remote also works perfectly from beneath the covers which consist of fluffy sheet, fat feather duvet and a fleece. Very impressed Smart Vu.

Well, if we're on the topic of strange covers, here's Eminem bluegrass style.

Hey that's pretty neat. I give them a bonus point for covering the Kim Wilde song 'Kids in Bavaria'.

I'm glad to finally be able to add another power house NUC to the server cluster at my own mini-company. These things are hard to come by in GER these days at a tolerable price. On the other hand, SSD and RAM prices are extremely good - probably the result of being able to ship fewer CPUs and motherboards. :-)
