Booking a summer holiday. We’ve got family visiting at the end of June and then at the end of July we’re off to Georgia.

Now the Courier will pick it up in a few days and take a few more to possibly get it to you!

That one of my staff, who has been away from his young family for a number of years, and who was told Friday that there may be another 12-18 month wait till he could bring them here, was given approval today for them to come next month.

I am unbelievably happy for him. I can't even comprehend being away from my family for that long.

I am always fascinated by my favourite electronics and computer retailer in Berlin and its select logistics chain. If I order by 3 p.m. the day before, I have the delivery at 10 a.m. in Hamburg at the 'Packstation‘ 150 m away, where I can pick it up 24/7 with my smartphone without having to be at home to receive it myself. And it's completely smooth, at competitive, regular prices, without postage costs or express surcharges. Even Amazon Prime can't do that! I had to call customer service yesterday to give them a big thumbs up.

I think I can smile about it and I'm also long done with the whole thing itself.

I have found a few personal answers to the increasing social desolidarisation and you may attack me for it - I have already had to take much more criticism in my life and you must accept that it is under my personal rights that I am exercising - nobody can enforce a change:

1. Individual desolidarisation, in which individuals gain advantages by using legal rules inappropriately or by deliberately accepting violations of the law.

my response:
- I have revoked my organ donor card. I am not a spare parts store for profiteers who change priority lists for money. That is bad luck for those who really need it.
- I have stopped donating blood. This has been the most difficult for me. So be careful what unnecessary risks you take in your spare time.
- I abide by the law, but from now on I will take advantage of every opportunity that is officially and legally mine. No more voluntary renunciation for others.

2. collective desolidarisation, in which federation or company power is used to undermine the conditions of collective bargaining and to call into question the process of limited conflict resolution that has proven itself over decades and the basis of mutual understanding and trust that has grown through this process by radicalising their own members and through unnecessary provocations.

my response:
- I have reduced or terminated my memberships in almost all associations. Functionaries do not work (any more).

- i have resigned from my honorary posts. If God wants to punish you, he will give you an honorary office ;-)

3. cultural desolidarisation by questioning the normative foundations of the welfare state and postulating a right of the stronger or more efficient, whose chances of asserting themselves in the context of intensified distribution conflicts have in any case increased significantly.

my answer:
- I am no longer interested in the social problems of families. Take care of your own problems, your own children, and don't whine about it - I've done my share and raised mine too.

- I don't donate any more. My state has given away enough of my taxes to third parties and abroad, and still has enough to give away (which is okay with me, just nothing more beyond that).

It may not interest anyone. Nevertheless, I am fully aware that innocent and uninvolved people (or even myself) can and will be affected by my responses above, but if you don't like it, don't criticise me but open your mouth, get involved and outrage against what has led to my reaction!

:-)

Conrad? They're pretty amazing, dunno what they're like now but as a kid my parents used to park me in their multi-story stores while they went shopping elsewhere...

Nope, it‘s a much smaller supplier with maybe 3 branches in GER. conrad is what we call here a „Pharmacy“ (expensive and slow).

They once were marvelous but now they live from the legend of former times. Maybe the industrial part keeps them alive ;-)

i went on a small trip with my son , who is 22 and the only way he would come if he was in charge of the music . So with trepidation i agreed. You can imagine my surprise when the first artist was Elvis Presley followed by the Clash and then , of all things, Slim Dusty and John Hiatt. He wasnt impressed when i asked him how old he was😁

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Olive oil where the producers are pretty serious about letting you know the origins of the product:

For those who don't want to enter that into Google maps, it does actually pinpoint a particular group of olive trees in Verona.
