Rogue Heros - TVNZ+ - 7/10 (so far)

Charts the creation of the famed Special Forces unit. Based on the book by Ben MacIntyre.

Loving this slightly comedic roguish take on the SAS during the Nth African campaign WWII.

Yes it is very 'boys own' and some will say it has done disservice and dishonour to the real SAS during WWII. I say NO. Those men fought hard. The things they did. It's no wonder they partied hard and played hard. My father was a crack shot marksmen at the age of 16 and was chosen to be a sniper. (underage enlistment) and served in the Desert campaign. On return home he, like a lot of returnees, drank hard till the early 50's (home brew). Mental Health treatment was the RSA on Friday nights.

I think they would enjoy this take on their service life. My father got his twin flag tattoos and a gold filling in Egypt and enjoyed life till 80.

^^^ Was just just going to comment on ‘SAS Rogue Heroes’ and saw I had been beaten to it. Screenplay written by Steven Knight of Peaky Blinders (and other) fame.

Have watched the first two of six episodes (on BBC, no ads) and agree with everything @FineWine has said about the show itself. Brilliant IMO.

Just realised it’s being released weekly on TVNZ+. BBC has all six episodes - which were released two days ago. Just watched E3 - superb.

I know I'm very late to the party with this one, but lately I've been bingeing Breaking Bad. I've just started season 4 and am loving it!

Can someone tell me what I should watch when I've finished the last series? I think I've seen mention of a movie that tied up some loose ends? And a spin-off show?

El Camino is the follow-up movie to Breaking Bad which ties up a few loose ends as you say. Then you'll want to watch Better Call Saul, a kind of Breaking Bad prequel. Enjoy!

Better call Saul, you’ll love it. It’s a prequel to Saul’s life before/up to and after meeting Walter.

It’s not some corny comedic spin off either, his story is incredibly well written and directed.

I have a feeling you’ll end up binging it too 😁

I've started watching The Imperfects on Netflix.

It's probably aimed a younger audience, but I am really enjoying it.

Lab experiments on kids. Kids grow up. Start to have side-effects. Try to find doctor to get treated for said side-effects.

Much blood, some humour. Good drama. So far so good, two episodes in.

A lot of heart throbbing moments

The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself

Netflix. It was more enjoyable than I expected. Certainly darker than I expected given it's teen protagonists. The "decimation" special effect is almost enough reason to watch it.

I'm about halfway through 1899 on Netflix. From the creators of Dark (which has excellent seasons 1 & 2, and an ok 3rd and final season).

Make sure you view the non-dubbed version as it is a multi-language show and works much better in the original languages since characters often can't understand each other.

Just when you think you've got an idea of what's going on, something comes out of left field and you're left scratching your head again.

The production design of the ships is great. Making the deck planks darker than what would be expected and painting almost all the exterior's black (instead of white) gives a very ominous and unsettling aesthetic.

Watching The Peripheral on Prime Video.

Loving it. Gritty, Sci-fi drama set in the near future (and the not-so-near future)

Don't tell me it is one of those productions where the director makes scenes so dark that even with Dolby Vision or HDR you still can't see anything.
