Starting Hell on Wheels again to watch with a friend, such an Epic show.
ripjack:
Kaleidoscope on Netflix.
Well worth the binge watch. I'd give it a 7.5/10 and may have scored higher if it wasn't for some unnecessary filler scenes.
A second season seems possible but I'd be happy if they left it as is.
Not bad. I'd probably give it a 6.5. None of the characters particularly endeared themselves to me, most of them being pretty nasty people.
I just read this story - after having seen Black Bird a few months ago. As claimed in the story, it's a great series on Apple TV+ so I thought it was worth posting it here.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Started watching KALEIDOSCOPE on Netflix. As some of you will know, the series doesn't have a set way to watch each episode. Everyone gets to see it in a different order, which I found to be rather hard to follow on the two episodes that I watched. I then read online that viewers may make more sense of it if they watched the episodes in chronological order. White is supposed to be watched last, but in chronological order, there are two episodes following that.
I decided to re-watch it from the beginning in chronological order starting at the Violet episode. I found it more enjoyable watching this way. So if you want to give it a try, the chronological order is:-
Violet
Green
Yellow
Orange
Blue
White
Red
Pink

Thanks for this, Movieman. I have this series on my "to watch shortly" list, but did not know about the colour thing in place of episode numbers. Despite the novel idea, can imagine it would be challenging/frustrating keeping things straight in your head with the storyline.
Will use your list and see how I get on, though will probably binge the new Viking series which is dropping today first.
Watched The Recruit on Netflix a couple of weeks ago [7.5 imdb rating]
Straight out of law school the recruit gets a job as a lawyer for the CIA, gets in over his head very quick and gets himself into a lot of tricky situations
Can get a bit predictable at times and the leads character is written to be way more charming than the lead gives off but if you ignore that and just take it for what it is, defs worth a watch with a good balance of comedy and seriousness

Intriguing. How far have you got now? On the surface a good crime drama is a good crime drama. But its interesting that any order will do, as in discreet episodes, but at the end it all concludes as if they were 1 to 10?

Only got through two episodes on my rewatch, but knowing what happened in the first one sure helped me to understand the second.

Taboo - Netflix - 7.5/10
Series set in the early 1800's in London pitting Tom Hardy against the East India Company and the monarchy. Gritty with plenty of violence but has lots of twists and turns to keep the interest. Hardy is very good.
A bit slow in places but worth a watch.
I'm halfway through KALEIDOSCOPE and I must say that its a much better watch when seen in chronological order. Everything I couldn't grasp when watching in random order, all drops perfectly into place now.
The characters are introduced to the viewer as they appear on screen, which was a problem I was having watching the random order; not knowing who some of the characters were.

I have started and finished a few series lately.
Just started Willow (Disney+). One episode in and it's OK so far.
Dead to Me (Netflix) - latest season: a bit slow this time around
Irreverant (Netflix): Chicago gangster ends up as town priest in Far North Queensland. Quite enjoyable.
National Treasure (Disney+): Edge of History: Gave up part way through episode 1
The Terminal List (Prime Video): Gave up after a few episodes. May give it another whirl.
Avenue 5 (Neon): not as good as first season, but I got through it.
Handsome Dan Has Spoken.
Handsome Dan needs to stop adding three dots to every sentence...
Handsome Dan does not currently have a side hustle as the mascot for Yale

Cyberpunk: EdgeRunners (Netflix). Binged the first three episodes and they were decidedly average. As a concept it's not bad, but the story is derivative, the anime is really not great, as a game universe it doesn't translate well to the TV screen, and as a game adaptation I don't care because I never played the game.
gehenna: The last of us, and I am very relieved. It's so good.
I also watched the first episode of The Last of Us last night and really enjoyed it. The casting for Joel and Ellie looks to be spot on so far and they did a great job of setting the scene in the first episode for what is to come.
Most telling for me is that my wife watched it with me and thoroughly enjoyed it despite having no interest in this sort of genre previously. It was made special as she bought me the original game for Christmas back in 2013 and I've always told her how much I enjoyed that game. It was nice to sit down and watch it with her and I was relieved that she enjoyed it.
