I'm a long way behind on my TV series watching. Lots of other things to do, but with Winter well and truly here, I have more time available, and also many films to watch, time to hibernate in my Man Cave i guess. 📺

Starting yesterday, I watched the first two episodes of The Last of Us. Absolutely gripping IMO. Probably a binge session coming up to watch the next six episodes

Penny Dreadful - DVD - 9/10

Rewatching all 3 seasons of this terrific gothic horror. Great story lines manage to intertwine satanism, vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde with issues like female empowerment.

Stars Eva Green, outstanding as the tortured heroine in the crosshairs of the Devil, plus Timothy Dalton, Billy Piper, Josh Hartnett and others who all play their parts extremely well.

The Diplomat - Netflix - 8/10

In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future.

My partner & I are thoroughly enjoying this series. It is very reminiscent of The West Wing (1999-2005). You do have to concentrate as there are several story lines going on at the same time and even a 'raised eyebrow' has meaning & implications. It is very politically upto date with innuendo to international politics of the last few years.

We are half way through the 8 episodes and hope they make further seasons.

Finally watching The Americans. Had no idea being a Russian spy in America kept you so busy killing people. Good entertaining stuff IMHO. 8/10.

The 2 main actors, Keri Russel and Matthew Rhys were an item from 2014 and ended up getting married in 2021. Keri Russel is the star of The Diplomat mentioned above.

Vinland Saga Season 2. Big fan of the first season. Only three episodes in so no rating just yet from me. A bit slow so far but for good reason.

We decided to start watching NCIS Hawaii. It's pretty terrible. We'll continue.

Joined amazon last weekend.
Binged the first series of The Boys, Good Omens and just started first series Picard.
Plan to not have more than 2 series on go at once.

Definitely better than Dysney for me... But not the kids unfortunately

Finally watched the first episode of Secret Invasion on Disney+

Apart from the characters, it's not very Marvel, as such - I enjoyed it. Had a bit of an 80's Cold War feel to it. That was helped by being set in Moscow, I guess.

It is good - good enough to keep you watching all 5 (?) seasons, but then I'm a sucker for that top secret spy stuff.

It is excellent.  I am rewatching this, having seen them all during their first run, half way through season 5.  They did six seasons in total.  The only problem is I watch it while I'm doing cooking stuff in the kitchen, and it makes it challenging when they speak Russian and I'm not actually watching the screen.  I only know a few words of Russian (da, nyet, spasiba), so it means I have to rewind sometimes to follow those storylines.  I love the character development though - it felt very real, despite the "unrealness" of so many situations.  I also liked how it came out a few years after an actual spy ring of illegals was reported on.

Silo S01E01 (Apple TV+) - 8/10

I've been eagerly anticipating this show since I heard about it, and have only just now been able to sit down and watch the first episode.  I read the Hugh Howey novels years ago, and it was a great trilogy (even though the second novel Shift nearly sent me into a depressive spiral!).  It's been a while since I read them so I have forgotten many of the details, but it's made watching the show really enjoyable because I remember enough to notice that the showrunners have done a good job, but not so much that I'm picking holes all the time.  Really looking forward to seeing more of this.
