Avengers: Infinity War.

I like superhero movies, I like the Marvel Universe, but there was so much happening and SO many heroes (Some of whom I'm not familar with or knew the back stories of) that I was really a little confused.

I'd give it a solid 8/10, the action was fantastic. I am not sure I followed everything that happened though.

@networkn have you seen all the preceding films?  Anyone who hasn't seen all the MCU films is going to struggle with all the characters and where they fit.  I just came from Infinity War a few mins ago.  I'm gonna need some time to decompress.  One thing is for sure though, Thanos is a spectacularly realised character.  After peaks and troughs of middling to above average antagonists in these films to date, this really is an all Thanos movie and he's fantastic.  Worth seeing this film for him if nothing else.

Yeah, I've seen everything released in cinemas in the last 10 years starting with the avengers original movie, but I struggled with some characters. Most I know. There were apparently 78 Characters in that movie!

I agree Thano's was very good. The ending was super powerful.

I do NOT like the latest spiderman actor. He is by far my least favourite.

The original at least had some (admittedly adolescent) humour.

You've lived a pretty sheltered life. It's not even the worst thing to happen to me TODAY!

I thought Thanos was also very, very good. MCU movies have been lacking a decent antagonist and they did well to have the movie revolve around Thanos.

What annoys me though is how absurdly powerful Ironman's suit gets and the latest iteration really goes so far over the top it's complete nonsense. Yes, I do realise I have to suspend my disbelief when watching superhero movies but (spoiler alert) the new suit basically morphing into anything is really stupid. Ironman is the Marvel equivalent to DC's Batman - a rich dude with toys - Tony Stark has no special powers. Come to think of it neither does Rhodes/War Machine or Falcon.

Pelé loved it, give it 9/10. Thoroughly enjoyable even for my wife who doesn’t like sports.

Ready Player One, give it 6/10. Boring storyline, but I guess I’m not the target market being 40+ years old and not a gamer at all.

I was thinking along the same lines.  Iron Man is basically Green Lantern in this movie, able to turn himself into a giant hammer if he wants to.  It's weird.  I found the suit a bit difficult to separate from CGI in this film, whereas the whole point of why Iron Man was great originally was it was so grounded in reality and looked so physically real.

Had a 9 hour flight and sat through four movies.

Watched Dunkirk and The Darkest Hour back to back - great!

Then watched the last couple of Star Wars movies. Decidedly average. Why do they still insist on inserting stupid little stuffed animal characters? The attempted humour is weak. The Empire still doesn't seem to learn not to put critical weaknesses in its assets - as it you can take out a dreadnought by strafing it's turrets then just bombing it? A small spaceship can simply shove a battle cruiser into another one and destroy it WTF?

Watched "The Way" on streaming at home. Pretty good if you like that "journey of self discovery" kind of thing along with a bit of interesting scenery and the story of the famous 'El Camino Way' walk across Spain.

Started a separate thread so that people can discuss Infinity War (including spoilers) without spoiling it here.

"Too Late" on Netflix. It is a kind of private eye story like Philip Marlowe in "The Big Sleep" told in a Tarantinoesque manner.

It is notable for being five acts, each a continuous shoot, with a lot of unusual/bad dialogue and convoluted happenings.

"Annihilation" on Netflix.

I hadn't read the book but did know the plot and doubted that I would enjoy it. It was much better than I expected.

Ready Player One - 8/10

Took my 13yo daughter along and we both enjoyed it a lot. Fun, CGI not over the top and nice links to 80’s pop culture that I am a fan of. Will definitely get this on Blu Ray as I feel there is so much more to discover in it.

Just read on Wikipedia that there are over 100 references to films, television shows, music, toys, video games, anime, and comic so lots to discover.

Blood Simple 7.5/10

Early Coen brothers movie. Great atmosphere with minimalistic dialogue about an affair leading to murder and misunderstandings. In other words a typical Coen brothers story.

Ending was a bit of a cliffhanger.......and now we wait at least a year.
