"A Quiet Place" - Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

Sci-Fi - suspense to the max. Very quiet. The audience was very quiet. The whole experience was eerie.

You have no real idea how it will end...and it stays that way until the end.

Never had the feeling anyone was acting. Really enjoyed it.....though I'm not much of a fan of scary movies. "The Shining" finished the genre for me when it came out. The stress became an (unrequired) option.

This movie got past that......

Avengers Infinity War.

OMG. How dull was that film? A cornucopia of amazing characters with which they did pretty much SFA.

My wife actually fell asleep.

Thor Ragnarok. Some deft Kiwi touches from Taika saved me from being totally bored to tears.

I think Superhero movies are either in your DNA or not. For me, it's the latter.

I remember Marvel Comics from the 1960s when they were still pretty much underground. I enjoyed Peter Parker's anguished adolescent musings over all the crises and setbacks in his life. It made a refreshing change from the two-dimensional DC characters. Eventually I went on to other things but always had fond memories of Marvel. I'm glad for Stan Lee that his vision worked out so well, but putting his creations on the big screen spoiled the magic for me. Maybe that had already happened. I don't know. I stopped reading the comics a long time ago.

Had a 9 hour flight and sat through four movies.

Watched Dunkirk and The Darkest Hour back to back - great!

Then watched the last couple of Star Wars movies. Decidedly average. Why do they still insist on inserting stupid little stuffed animal characters? The attempted humour is weak. The Empire still doesn't seem to learn not to put critical weaknesses in its assets - as it you can take out a dreadnought by strafing it's turrets then just bombing it? A small spaceship can simply shove a battle cruiser into another one and destroy it WTF?

Watched "The Way" on streaming at home. Pretty good if you like that "journey of self discovery" kind of thing along with a bit of interesting scenery and the story of the famous 'El Camino Way' walk across Spain.

Aw man that's a great double feature. Dunkirk and Darkest Hour are a great pair to watch together because you get perspectives of whats going on in different areas of that time period. Gary Oldman was fantastic as Winston. And Nolans take on Dunkirk is just brilliant. The way Nolan created tension with sound almost being its own character. was great.

I've just watched Revolt on Netflix NZ

Space Aliens have decimated the earth with robot thingies. A Super-soldier with no memory teams up with a nice French lady doctor in Nairobi.

It's better than I make it sound. It's not amazing. 6/10

So haven't actually watched yet, but anyway - The Italian Job (original one), Psycho, Vertigo, North by North-West. And The Death of Stalin.

I own the first four on bluray - I recently watched the Italian job which I love, and am overdue to re watch the Hitchcock's. The Death of Stalin was good, but not sure I would ever want to watch it a second time.
