Oh I read it as some other company producing the bulletin, not sponsoring it. Sorry, I probably should have made that clearer.

Given TV3 currently produce a nightly news bulletin for Sky, maybe they could reverse positions and Sky do it for them?

Okay, this could be a good thing for Stuff if it goes ahead, given how God-awful their new website is and readership has dropped off. Just hope they don't redesign the set in the same way.

Good $deity.

We are now going to see stories from TikTok and Reddit on the 6 o'clock news.

Already do, and they have to downsample the videos to 360p and add their own crap to them most of the time.

Well, let's see how long this lasts before the hype dies down and they are faced with more bills than eyeballs.

I guess while not ideal that Stuff is taking it over, at least it would be better than TV3 having no news presence at all - I imagine if that was the case their audience would absolutely crater.

As long as the Tik Tok-type nonsense doesn't come into it, it might be okay - but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see what happens before making judgement.

If they just tack a small newsroom reading their stories out then I can see this working out very well.

If they continue the over production and dramatization that newshub and TVNZ currently do, then it will end up the same way.

Look at all the virtual set crap that they play with just to read stories infront of. Needless waste of time and expense.

"Sinead Boucher told her staff that the new news service would not be called Newshub. A new name had not been selected." <--- Oh oh I have one! ...or more... "StuffitUP" or "News Stuff" or "Stuff you need to see to believe" or "StuffGoingRetro"....

"Stuff It"?

Anyway, I suspect there will still be lots of jobs going. I can't see Stuff paying the big bucks the current news anchors and reports are on?

Unfortunately only a very small proportion of the jobs will be saved. WBD will be paying a fraction of the cost of delivering their own news.

Tonight's news on Newshub

"Quality" news right there. Never asked the same question to the previous two PMs.

This is why some media are going broke.

I liked the old Stuff regional pages when they first absorbed Suburban Newspapers.

"Stuff Auckland"

Hmmm, accurate.

I still remember a time, where reading an actual newspaper was hard work because it actually contained articles with some depth to them. Where an actual opinion was based on something that took more than 10 seconds to come up with and where the solution to a problem was not the 1st convenient $$$ generating option, Then we all decided paying for news was overrated when you could get it for free on the webs. Now we are where we are and tikwhatever is generating the mindset of the populace. Doesn't matter who we shut down or pass anchors to all the same vacuous nothingness. By the voting behaviours and the expectation of actual convictions in politicians I think the *-Discovery powers that be are close to the end goal.
