Binged the show "Dear Child" on Netflix with TheWife™ over the weekend. German show with subtitles. Not going to be for everyone - the content is quite harrowing as involves abduction and captivity. Really great show but we both felt it was let down by the last episode to be honest. Was running at a 9/10 till then, will give it a 7/10 over all.

If adapted well you shouldn't need knowledge of the source material to enjoy.

That is true.

A bit of off-color humor, around U.S. representative for Colorado's & white trailer trash Lauren Boebert

Neil deGrasse Tyson, American astrophysicist and writer, is the guest.

Stephen Colbert Recaps A Crazy Summer, Part 1: Trump’s Mugshot, Cocaine in The White House

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Our host has a special two-part monologue to catch everyone up on the stories we missed over the summer, including those Canadian wildfires, cocaine found in the White House, the government admitting aliens are real, the former president’s many indictments, and more. Stick around for Part 2 of Stephen’s monologue after this!

Another quiet weekend. Another (mini)series binged with TheWife™

Inside Man. Actually really enjoyed this. Shame it is only 4 episodes and just the one season. Feels like a really good launching pad for a number of series. Could be a kind of House but around crime (dont want to give away any spoilers).

No word of a second season as yet but I hope there will be more or some kind of spinoff.  8/10 for me.

Silo (8/10) - Apple TV+

I read Hugh Howey's trilogy a while back, and really enjoyed it.  My partner and I have been slowly making our way through the first season, and from what I can remember of the first book, they've done a pretty good job of capturing the key elements of the story.  I'm aware that a few things have been added, and some may have been edited out, but the core of the story is still there.  Performances have been great, especially Tim Robbins as Bernard, Common as Sims, and Rebecca Ferguson as Jules.  I feel like going back and re-reading the first book to see just what they did leave out.  From memory, the season ends pretty close to where the first book ends, which would suggest they will be adapting book 2 (Shift) for season 2.

Beckham (as in David) four-part doco on Netflix. I have very little interest in round-ball football but thought this was brilliant.

My wife watched it and thought it was pretty good (not a joke by the way). The bits I saw suggested he was God's gift to football, overcoming adversity to triumph again and again. He was pretty good but that's as far as it goes.

Lupin Season 3 Chapter 1.

The initial magic is mostly gone, and the storyline is getting a bit predictable. Omar Sy's screen presence, the French cast and filming locations save the day.

Some how Ive watched the first two seasons on NF, but I dont remember it.....

Watched EP6 Daryl Dixon yesterday, imo the cultural French setting makes it more interesting a plot than the other WD spin off with Maggie and Negan etc.

Thinking about watching Twisted Metal first season again Im trying to hold off but I enjoyed it SO much.

I ended up getting into the first season of One Piece. It got better and the characters started to make a bit  more sense.
Looking forward to season 2.

I also finished this season of The Wheel of Time. I very much enjoyed it and look forward to another season at some stage.

Nope. He could have been God's gift to (English) Football if he'd manage to lift that world cup trophy, but alas.

Just finished watching Kleo on Netflix.

Really enjoyed it - set just after the East German/West German reunification.

It follows the (fictional) story of Kleo Struab, a former East German special agent/assasin that ended up being double crossed by her bosses.

She is out for revenge and its quite often black comedy.

Like the use of colours and late 80's style.

I suppose it has certain similarities with Killing Eve - but the main character is a bit less over the top.

Gets a 7.5 on imdb

The Fall Of The House Of Usher - Netflix - 7/10

Very loosely based on the Edgar Allen Poe story the modern Usher family is a completely dysfunctional, thoroughly dislikeable bunch. Part horror, part supernatural it's a pretty good watch that grows on you.

Not one for the family though.

How full of 'frights' is it? I am not a fan of 'fright' horror. I do like supernatural thrillers, esp psychological ones.
