One carton of toilet paper for sale or should I wait.

The Narcissist in Chief has announced a ceasefire and taken full credit for it. Interestingly neither of the warring sides have confirmed the news and this Messiah is blessing all parties. What could go wrong.

I suspect this could be another ploy from the Art of The Deal playbook.

I doubt Trump has ever read that book. It is filled with words on paper.

I guess now he will get the Nobel Peace Prize. Pakistan has already nominated him.

America at it's best!

Shooter not yet "neutralised".

"Multiple firefighters in Idaho have been shot while responding to a fire, according to scanner traffic. The incident (a possible ambush) occurred in Kootenai County, Idaho in the area of Coeur d’Alene."

2 Fire Fighters confirmed dead so far.

(From Agenda Free TV on YT : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJPHSE1Iul0)

Still active scene.

I remember a segment on QI about the 18th amendment (alcohol prohibition). For those unaware, QI is British.

One of the panelists said something like "So what you're saying is that it is in fact possible to get rid of an American amendment to the constitution if it's, y'know, not working out." It got a huge laugh.

Speaking of Idaho, whose major claim to fame is potatoes, comes news from Boise, it's largest city

Idaho’s Anti-Pride “Hetero Awesome Fest” Ends in Scandal, Fights, and Low Turnout: Gay Express

Held in Cecil D. Andrus Park in downtown Boise across June 20 and 21, organiser Mark Fitzpatrick billed the gathering as a celebration of “traditional gender norms and heterosexual awesomeness” — an intended alternative to LGBTQ+ Pride events. The event’s promotional material promised that it “ain’t your limp-wristed woke fest,” but in reality, it failed to draw more than 30 to 50 attendees across both days, according to KTVB.

Straight pride events have long been associated with dismal turnouts. A 2019 California event drew just 20 attendees compared to 200 LGBTQ+ supporters. Another straight pride in Texas attracted just three participants.

Musician Pulled Off Stage for Pro-Trans Song

A major flashpoint during the Boise festival came when local musician Daniel Hamrick, initially invited to perform a parody of gay culture, took the stage wearing a rainbow-patched jacket and a crop top that read “Keep Canyon County Queer.” His performance of “Boy,” a song about the experiences of a young trans boy, was abruptly cut off when organiser Fitzpatrick stormed the stage and forcibly removed him.

A brief scuffle ensued when another man mistakenly believed the parody comedian was a protester trying to disrupt the event. Security eventually escorted Hamrick and his group from the premises.

The organizer defended his actions, saying the parody lyrics contradicted the event’s values. “This is yet another example of lies and deceptions from the Pride community,” he told KTVB. “It’s pathetic and evil.”

Podcaster’s Racist Remarks Draw Backlash

Another controversy emerged when Dave Reilly, co-host of the far-right podcast The Backlash, made racist remarks during the event. In an online clip, Reilly praised Boise for being “clean” and lacking Black residents.

Not sure why that changes the fact it's a very unpleasant comment?

Just because you can be a dick, doesn't mean you should be and all that.

I don't regard my opinion as fact, do you?

What a normal person should find unpleasant is the state of things in the USA where this type of tragedy is a daily occurrence. But americans want it that way and until they vote for a change we'll have to let them carry on shooting each other.

And pack it in with the infantile name calling will you.

There's a bad bunch near there with potential motive against firefighters after their property was condemned by the local authority:

IntermountainHistories: Bankrupted by the suit, the Aryan Nations lost possession of their local property. Idaho firefighters used the compound buildings for arson investigation training, eventually burning down every structure.

The nutjobs come to the hills from elsewhere to run around. Too early for any conclusions. That bunch has not been mentioned in news reports so far. I hope everyone that needs to be safe can be safe. Imo actual mountain people are not like that bunch at all.

Spiders are very helpful to agriculture in New Zealand and globally. They act as natural pest control agents, helping farmers manage insect populations without relying solely on chemical pesticides.

I know it's of little comfort, but it seems that the introduced spiders has also spread to UK and Ireland. Its venom mentioned in the article is neurotoxic (primarily affects the nervous system).

The spiders, which have not been introduced into New Zealand (yet), with bites that scare me are ones with necrotizing venoms. Worst case symptoms, unlikely
  • Permanent Scarring or Disfigurement
  • Healing may take months
  • often require skin grafts or surgery.
  • Nerve involvement or extensive tissue damage can result in long-term pain, numbness, or reduced function
  • Kidney failure
  • death
Again these spiders with necrotizing venom not here. Spiders with necrotizing venoms are Loxosceles spp. (Recluse spiders) have been introduced into Australia. There are some similar spiders on some Pacific Islands, like Hawaii.

So for now, don't get to freaked out. Trying to squash a spider will more likely get you a bite. There are about 131 spiders per square meter on average globally (Nyffeler & Birkhofer, 2017)

Spider with 'potentially sinister bite' establishes in New Zealand: One News

The noble false widow spider or Steatoda nobilis — named for its resemblance to the notorious black widow — had its first confirmed sighting in Porirua late last year.

Massey University evolutionary ecologist Steven Trewick led the efforts to confirm the identity of the spider by comparing its physical features and analysing DNA of the Porirua sample.

Since the initial sighting, the noble false widow spider had been confirmed in Christchurch, Nelson, Northland and Waikato.

Trewick said the species was already thriving in Kiwi backyards, favouring gardens, fences, outdoor furniture, and the undersides of plant pots and tarpaulins.

Not sure if you’re joking or not. He wrote it - but with a ghostwriter - so maybe he never read it. 😀

He has an extremely small vocabulary - certainly doesn’t come across as someone who reads muchly.
