sir1963: there is nothing of value Wirth paying for.
I dunno, Modula 2 was pretty nice, before he went off into the weeds with Oberon and others.
Here we go again with the "invite reporters who don't appear to know anything"
https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/360522147/microsoft-opens-hyperscale-data-centre
{Tech giant Microsoft has opened its first renewable energy data centre in New Zealand.
The hyperscale data centre opened in Auckland on Thursday, but its exact location is being kept private for security reasons.
Hmm, about that security - Its really hard to hide the construction of a big building in NZ...
"But key details have been revealed in council and Government records, as revealed in the story below, "

Surely not as silly as posting the location of a nuclear waste site.
They should paint the roof green so that it doesn’t show up like canines’ cojones in satellite map views.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Can I just say how cringey is having every headline with "WATCH"?

It's perfectly reasonable - they're just giving you fair warning that there will be no actual article to read or any sign of journalism if you click the link 🤣

Going through this thread reminds me of how different Stuff is compared to even 10 years ago. Remember when the front page had categories like Politics and Technology? Now it's Paddy Gower, Sport, puzzles and 'Living'. I have to remind myself that this is a lifestyle rag now, not a news site.

Yes the mechanic is cringey and made even more cringey when you read the rubbishy, crap type of stories to which those links lead.

I wouldn't blame Stuff. News is news, sport is sport. These days its about likes, sensationalism, and likes. Its about eyeballs. For me, I accept that and gravitate to outlets that have some, or some more of actual news/sport enthusiasts.
Example. I am a huge Formula 1 fan. Most coverage is by Brits, but while some Brits are heavily biased, and annoying, some aren't. Thats my value.

Is it because with the dumbing down of everything, it's now assumed that the masses need to be told how to consume the content?
Next they'll add "READ:" to the remaining text based pages. Or "LISTEN" if it's audio.
This is top-of-the-page "News"?
😠
