BBC complains about Apple AI providing incorrect notifications for BBC stories:

BBCNews: "BBC News is the most trusted news media in the world," the BBC spokesperson added. "It is essential to us that our audiences can trust any information or journalism published in our name and that includes notifications"

Not an isolated incident. The article mentions earlier incorrect notifications for New York Times stories. I'm sure Apple users can provide many more examples.

“Man in custody after person shot in popular Waikato town”

Really? Is the popularity of the town or otherwise even slightly relevant, Herald?

And “in Paeroa” would have been more accurate and used less words!!

I think this qualifies...

Other news outlets have also incorrectly reported the the 'star' as 90, even though he was only "thought to be over 90". The NZ Herald takes it a step further and omits to mention the article is about a reptilian cast member.

NZH story today says “Geese block State Highway 18”.

Short version? Nah, they didn’t.

Edit: NZH has changed the headline and the story - so that neither now say ‘blocked’ as they did originally.

Tip for young players.  Always take a screenshot/snip and paste it in when posting in this topic.

Maybe they’re wanting to distinguish it from a really unpopular Waikato town.

But yes - it’s just rubbish.

Lithium Journalism...

Maybe the AI that did the art, to save on artists, did not go to Journalism School ? :-)

The writer/journalist who just got a reprimand for falling behind on their 'words per minute' output.
I mean you slow the whole process down by asking for a redo.
Manager might be thinking might as well let AI do it all to get output up and costs down ?

Actually once you get past combustible cars, there is also some interesting stuff on Fire Service concern about devices, battery disposal, cables and chargers.

I'm sure most consumers are not ready to consider if that wimpy USB-C cable is really up to its 240 watt label.
It bends so easily too, oh so convenient.

Faster charging is always better all the time, especially hot off heavy use.

The original manufacturer battery is not likely to be always or often realistic.
Given the lack of repair or long term maintenance support from manufacturers.
Pricing policies that may make battery cost more than a new device, because its better that thing makes a trip to the dump.

The Kiwi mayor who describes himself as ‘the Trump of the North’ | Stuff

He held a celebratory gathering at home in honour of Trump’s success, the day after the presidency was confirmed.

That's not how it works. The confirmation comes in January, with the certification. But, yeah, I know, "technicalities".

Because of the ambiguity of who is collecting the video, the police or the child?
