Just watched Murderbot ep. 9. on Apple TV+
I really wish the episodes were longer.
This. It's so good, a shame we only get small doses.

Mobland S01E01 - 9/10 (Prime)
[snip]
We're now up to episode 8 and we're hooked. We're deliberately rationing it to one episode a night because we know it's going to be a long wait until they release a new season (I'm assuming it will be followed by another season here). Such a fantastic show.
The big question that remains - what to watch when it finishes? Any similar-style shows people can recommend? We watched The Gentlemen last year and that was also very good.
Kin, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13444408/
We went through the same dilemma last night. Found Kin as well but we started Love/Hate instead. We watched two episodes last night and it's got the gritty RTE production feel rather than a slick Netflix or BBC feel. So far so good.
Probably a bit nerdy in context of this thread but I like Weird Earth, docos on, well weird Earth stuff. Waitomo Caves got a mention on the ep I watched last night

I know - so short. Just a snack...
And only ten episodes.
Unless it's a Monster of the Week show, these series that run for a short time and then stop with unexplained ending or with lose ends actually annoy me.

I prefer 10 short episodes to the old days of 23 episode network tv series,
Even recent 13 episode Netflix series seem bloated and slow,
:D
Well, Murderbot season 1 ended a lot better than I expected.

Just finished watching Season 19 of Taskmaster (the UK original).
I think this cast was one of the best - they had real chemistry and despite my initial misgivings, Jason Mantzoukis was hilarious and somewhat endearing.
In case anyone doesn't know the back story of how he came to be the first American on the show that isn't residing in or recently from the UK, it turns out he was a super-fan.
He reached out to the producers and essentially begged to be on the show, even reportedly paying for himself to get to the UK and appear.
His obvious delight when performing some tasks and especially when in the studio, is joyous and infectious.
He plays up to his character of "agent of chaos and destruction" constantly and they deliberately made him the last contestant in each task so that he could lean into that and had free rein to destroy sets and props and generally run amok without ruining it for anyone else.
10/10 for me.

That's why I've started waiting until I know something's renewed for S2 before I get started. Mainly it's the stuff that would usually get canned after S1 - sci fi is a big victim of S1 cancellations, for example. I just got so sick of getting invested in something after 8 hours of my time, then realising it's going nowhere.

Agreed - it was pretty slow going for most of the season - I'm glad it picked up a bit.

Slow? We binge watched the first 4 episodes last night and it didn't feel slow.
