Personally, I don't care if some international ball kicking game is corrupt.

But, WTF does that have to with America(US).

I mean the US cares little about Soccer.

I saw the video with the American Justice PR. They were so concerned about fairness in Football.

Ridiculous.

They should be more concerned with the corruption in their own country.

Don't they owe that to their taxpayers?

I suspect that the US is the only country that has the balls to do this as the Europeans wouldn't. I also heard that the whistle blower was some top ex US soccer boss who now has cancer and wanted to spill the beans on FIFA..

I hope the US gets some proper results in this mafia Hunt. At the moment all i can see is that the scapegoats are all rounded up while the real underbelly just got a stronger foot hold!

In USA the usual way is get plea bargains to dish the dirt on the big boss. Some of those arrested in Zurich were current or former officials of the USA domiciled FIFA so there is the connection. FBI has media and sportswear execs immunity/deals already admitting large unrelated payments to companies related to USA FIFA people in return for swinging the licensing deals.

FIFA has been corrupt for many years and the subject of many scandals. DarthKermit was bang on with his post. I had to laugh when Blatter said he couldn't watch everyone all of the time, because (if he is clean, which I doubt very much) he clearly wasn't watching anyone any of the time. John Oliver had a big rant about FIFA last year, just before the World Cup in Brazil - it's been linked and summarised on Upworthy.

My theory is that the Europeans were too scared to touch FIFA directly and fed the required info to the US on a wink wink.

My theory is that, now that he's seen the evidence, he knows that there's no hope of retaining the job. And probably a deal for him to go (relatively) quietly.
