10 deg temperature difference at 7:00 this morning. It's warmer in Christchurch Port Hills than Auckland.

Frost when I left for work as had to de-ice the car. Glad Auckland survived!

More like an 'I survived the Herald's latest click-bait catastrophic Weather Event' badge.

to be fair, Auckland houses are NOT designed to withstand any sort of cold weather.
thin wooden walls, no insulation, no heating, HUGE gaps in windows and doors.
So yeah, 6 degrees weather when you live in a house that is warm is nothing.
When you live in a house that is colder than the air outside, not quite so much.
Sadly I would say this is a national housing issue rather than just an Auckland housing issue.

The Institute of Unfinished Research has concluded that 6 out of 10 people
Typically colder in Mosgiel rather than Dunedin because we are flat compared to the hills (and also inland)
Had a frost this morning, had to de-ice the car ... and will have to for the next 4-5 months.
But imagine that - it getting colder as we get towards winter and the shortest day of the year ... what a massive deal
