It really sounds like they are wanting Auckland's to get a barrage of abuse from the rest of the country. I suggest if its that cold tomorrow tell work you can't make it, wrap up in cotton wool and drink your later before it goes cold tongue-out

Keep warm and I sure you will all survive.

Mind boggling story. NZH can make a drama out of *anything*. Welcome to reporting 2015+

Still presents about a 10c drop, which is pretty significant, suddenly.

Headline for me is:

"Polar blast: New Zealand's coldest and most extreme weather on record"

I get the feeling they test a few headlines. Maybe they know i avoid the clickbait.

This is tomorrow right? I don't start work until 4pm tomorrow. I'll have to stay in bed until then, I guess. Then I'll brave the cold conditions of my garage, drive my car to work and somehow cope with the heated seats, park in the underground garage at work and then sit in the air conditioned office.

God help me if I have to go outside for dinner. Maybe I can send a sherpa? Uber Eats maybe?

It seems most MSM news these days if focused on Auckland. We had a storm in Wellington last night that was significantly worse than the cyclone and caused quite a bit of damage, but hardly anything in the news about it at all, compared to that cyclone.
It seems MSM is almost getting to the point of creating the news, if there isn't anything that newsworthy. Eg all these property stories, saying it is still possible to buy a house if you just don't buy coffee or an avacardo. When there is something like an earthquake, they milk it for all it is worth, to the point that people are stick of it.

Wow I didn't know Aucklanders were so feeble.

Who's winging?  Many Aucklanders have lived in other places that are cold and don't really care. Just another night.  tongue-out

Everyone seems to be assuming this NZH article is the true reflection of what all Aucklanders think. Most Aucklanders probably would say it's a bit chillier than normal and that's it. But y'know anything to have a dig at Auckland :-)

to be fair, Auckland houses are NOT designed to withstand any sort of cold weather.

thin wooden walls, no insulation, no heating, HUGE gaps in windows and doors.

So yeah, 6 degrees weather when you live in a house that is warm is nothing.

When you live in a house that is colder than the air outside, not quite so much.
