TVNZ have confirmed that Doctor Who will be shown on TVNZ2 on Friday evenings, which will be five four and a half days after the UK broadcast. Episodes will be available on TVNZoD straight after the UK broadcast. https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/celebrities/106863828/doctor-who-jodie-whittakers-debut-date-announced

[edit: BBC are showing it on Sunday evening, not the usual Saturday slot]

Starts Monday 8 October, same day as the UK, on TVNZ OnDemand and Friday 12 October on TVNZ 2. It is already being advertised in TVNZ OnDemand App where you can mark it as a Favourite.

Yes, On Demand on Monday mornings (7:45, I think?), just after it's screened in the UK, but not broadcast until Friday at 7:30pm on TV2

Classic doctor. Nice mixture of drama and comedy, and a good delivery by the new doctor.
Glad TVNZ has put it on demand straight away. No more VPN required.

It takes at least that long to set the scene and introduce the new characters. Stick with it, it is a pretty standard Dr Who plotline and ticks all the boxes. They do actually manage to sandwich a plot amongst the introductions and backstories. Jodie Whittaker looks like she will be a Dr in the mould of David Tennant, if I had to pick one of her predecessors.

Just watched it.  For the first time in years I enjoyed it (could be because the last doctor i liked was david tennant).

I'm super old school, so for me Dr Who will always be Peter Davison :D

What? No, no - Jon Pertwee.

I'm undecided.

I thought Jodie Whittaker was good and the show had some good moments, but the story itself I thought was pretty poor.

I was also disappointed that they did the typical Doctor Who thing where the villain has no problem killing whoever gets in their way, expect for the Doctor who they instead talk to ad nauseam.

The episode had a lot to achieve with introducing a new Doctor and all new companions, plus trying to tell a story. I'm hoping that with all the introductions out of the way that subsequent episodes will be better.
