Beaks, combs, feet and gizzards! maybe some chopped up horsehair for "texture"*

There were some people in a mall trying to sell those clicky-coin "selfheat" pads, they were quite shocked to discover that the special hot ice stuff is actually what gives "salt n vinegar"flavour chips the "vinegar" favour.

You gotta love what is really inside food and their more "industrial" uses. Have a look at the E numbers on the various stuff in the pantry and then take a look at this list and worry ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_number#Full_list

Bear in mind, some of the names do sound a lot worse than the chemicals really are, Sodium Tallowate is plain ol Soap (Caustic soda and Beef dripping) Dihydrogen Monoxide (www.dhmo.org) is just plain old H2O, or Water........ lolz.

Nimma: In NZ and Australia you are allowed up to 5% Cocoa Butter Equivalent to be able to still call it chocolate, usually this is a palm based oil. Any more than that and it has to be called compound or 'choc'. You'd be surprised how many ice creams, muesli and confectionary items don't actually use real chocolate - there's quite a bit more complexity involved in manufacture.

On that - I was told that Sizzlers ‘Sausages’ can’t be called sausages because they don’t contain enough meat products. --> Begs the question, if it ain’t meat – what is it?

Snout, hoof and ears. Haha no, they just have a little more breadcrumbs and cereals than your regular sausage. Yes they are different from your regular sausage but in doing so they've opened up a new category. There would be a lot of loyal sizzler consumers that wouldn't actually like the texture of normal sausages.

Greater range of flavours ? When ? And theyll taste bad anyway because of the new chocolate mix :(

I love the Snack bar they used to make in Aus (it did appear here for a very short time) but now thinking about it with the nex mixture itll probably be crap.

Will have to get some sent over again to find out.....

I have not seen snack on the shelves here, used to love the stuff. Was under the impression it was coming back to NZ. Having a look at their site, there is nothing on there to say that. Although I saw an Old Gold Liqueur the other day, pretty sure thats a new product, along with one or two of the new desert flavours.

My favourite Cadbury chocolate bar would have to be the Cherry Ripe - I'm Australian and they're really common over there, but it's pretty rare to see them over here in NZ. My partner's family know to always keep the small Cherry Ripes from the Favourites chocolate boxes for me :)

Yeah they just dont seem that popular over here eh. I have seen the bars in a few supermarkets but pretty uncommon.

I think there is another reason why they "keep" them for you. In our family they dont get eaten because no-one out of the 6 in our family actually likes them. At least in your family they are getting full value. If you live in Hamilton drop me a PM and next time I have some I'll gladly "keep" them for you. Will be a long wait as they are usually only a xmas treat for us.

After reading this thread I am most definitely going to compare brands and content more than I previously had. I would usually buy Cadburys when supermarket has them on special but admit would only buy large chocolate bars maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

Another consideration could be small confectionary manufacturers who source their product from Cadbury. I have taken my children a couple of times out to Candyland in Taupiri who run a show during the holidays. They source their chocolate from Cadburys so cost increase and change in product may have an effect on their business. Of course the recession in general could also affect them as well as those sort of luxuries will be lower prioritised for many families.

I see Whittakers had a new ad on TV last night. Putting Cadburys down very blatantly. Good on them and I hope Cadbury learn from this. They have always been a great product but I am reconsidering now.

Yeah heard about this due to happen on kiwibiker awhile ago (aussie has been doing it for awhile now apparently). It's a shame I actually like Cadbury milk chocolate the most havent tasted it since the recipe change I've already voted with my feet and now only buy whittakers.

I prefer to think of the glass half full and that they're doing it out of kindness, not that they're giving the crap no one wants to the Aussie :)

Glad to see people are moving over to the dark side! (so-to-speak)

Whittaker's doesn't take like processed crap to be honest.

The day I had one little piece of Whittaker's, it was that day I knew my destiny (okay, a little far fetched, but you get the point), because now when i even smell cadbury, it gives me the shivers.

Although, I have to say, I do love their ads, thats one thing I'll give Cadbury (the eye brow one gives me amusement for a good 10 minutes)

I stopped eating Cadbury the moment I noticed the taste had changed, and it stood out like a sore thumb. It no longer had the taste I loved. They're not getting a cent of my cash any longer.

This one is still my favourite, first time I saw it on TV I laughed pretty hard, totally unexpected.

Or was it the money they (over)spent that forced the goouging.

The biggest thing I noticed about Cadbury now is the chocolate is hard and no longer smooth textured when it melts but rather "crystally", they are hooting on about it being "softer to the bite" but I think it's much harder and more like plastic, certainly harder than the lovely soft Whittakers.
