My TV that shattered when a remote control was thrown and bounced off the carpet hitting it.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

People who register to a technology website, and check the mailing list box. When you then send an email out you receive replies such as

"F*ck you"
"F*ck off, I am reporting this to the police"

If you don't forward this text/tweet/message/email to at least XXXX other people then XXXX will happen.

and the other variation;

If you forward this text/email to XXXX people then you will get XXXX for free.

In regards to that I actually got one of those that really did work. I went something like this.......
Thisis unbelievable this really works.

Send this to 10 and F*ck all will happen, it's amazing this truly works, in fact the more people you send it to the better as F*ck all will happen.

Now for pet tech peeves...
My LG Cellphone when i have just replied to a text then go and delete the text I am replying to about 1 in 10 times it will turn off and not send the message upon restarting my cell it has the message in the outbox supposedly trying to send.  However you need to actually cancel the text then resend it.

Then there's hard drives that die old or new they just seem to die randomly every now in then.  Worst part is everytime it happens I end up thinking that I really shoulf get round to backing my music & videos etc.

Facebook (and of recent Myspace).  I do not belong to either and never have but still I get emails every now and to join up as I may know this person.  Who cares if I know them or not I don't hundreds of online friends. I prefer real people face to face contact with people I actually classify as friends.  The people you see and talk to regularly they are my friends not someone I knew ten years ago who I haven't seen in a while or even worse a college friend from 20yrs ago.

Moving files around that for no apparent reason decide to transfer at a rate thats going to take more than a few minutes.  I bought a new HD from DSE not so long ago it wanted to take 12 hours to move a 7gig file.  I took it back saying it was faulty (as when I woke up it still had 4 hours to go) then i got told well it's not the fastest thing but it is  working.  My reply was simply "You have a customer satisfaction guarantee and I want a refund".

Which leads me to a one of my biggest peeves (that has been mentioned in various forms already) When you call a tech place or go to the store and they don't know what they are talking about or you know more.  A salesman this year couldn't tell me if they sold dual layered disks (at DSE again).  Same goes for online tech businesses that claim to have great customer service but then don't reply to a email about a product you want to buy from them.

DVD players that can't easily be set to region free (like my panasonic home theatre system).

I'll leave it at that but like others I could keep on going.

The manager at work who thinks hes some tech master but has no idea, he goes on about how cool he is downloading movies of torrents the other day he told a staff worker that if you want your program to run faster you need to buy a faster cd drive. I nearly chocked on my coffee but yes cause hes the boss I can't tell him to STFU!

Customer support staff &/or sales staff who assume women are technically challenged and talk down to them as if they are idiots. And who then try to baffle with bull when they realise the woman they are talking to knows more than they do.

At DSE last month I asked a sales guy if they stocked any class 6 microSD cards. His answer was that I didn't need a class 6 because the cards they sold were class 2, which, according to him, made them 3x faster! DSE sales people are obviously not trained to do anything more than man the till.

If you don't expect DSE staff to know anything about their products you will get less peeved Wink

In a round-about way, it's not that far off the mark, especially if the optical drive and HDD are sharing the same IDE cable ... data I/O will slow down to the slowest device.
Not to mention the annoying habit of WinXP forcing the IDE channel to PIO mode if there are too many errors from the optical drive ..

But as usual, a little knowledge is totaly misconstrued ....

Easy fix, just replace what my parents call the "hard drive" (i.e. the PC)
